04.01.2022 Doctor Tom Leach; one of our local Bungendore doctors needs your help! Dr Tom is participating in a charity cycling event this Saturday, 12th September, in Bungendore Village Square from 6am until finish, around 6-7pm. I’ve timed it to coincide with the Tour de France, and the challenge is called Everesting. This is where you try to cycle uphill to the same altitude as Mount Everest. I will be cycling on a stationary bike, up a virtual simulation of the Alp d’Huez (for the... Tour de France theme!) - and to complete the challenge I need to cycle up it 8 and a half times. The event is to raise money for palliative care. Half of the money will go to palliative care services in Bungendore, and the other half to a hospice in Tom’s hometown in Yorkshire in the UK. My brother, in lockdown in Melbourne is also doing it at the same time via webcam. There is also a second bike available for the public to use to ride alongside me - several of my friends will be joining me for a while too, but anyone is free to have a go!
