21.01.2022 A FUN NIGHT AT THE MOVIES The Parish of Lower North Shore (LNS) has twinned with the Parish of Letefoho in Timor Leste. The parish of Letefoho is in the highlands at the Western end of Timor Leste. The local high school has been renovated through the generosity of the LNS parishioners and has been achieving outstanding results. However, many of the children walk up to two hours each way every school day, for their education. This is extremely limiting for the students,... hence the Parish of LNS is raising funds to complete a boarding house for Year 12 students and commence the construction of a second one. To help towards this we are having a Fundraising Movie Night. The movie we have chosen is Ladies in Black starring Julia Ormond, Angourie Rice, Rachael Taylor, Noni Hazelhurst and Shane Jacobson. It is directed by the wonderful Australian director, Bruce Beresford and is based on the novel by Madeleine St John. The Movie Night will be held at Roseville Cinema on Friday September 21st 2018. There will be an opportunity to socialise from 7.00pm. The movie will start at approximately 8pm. Please click on the link below to purchase tickets: https://www.trybooking.com/411494 If you are unable to come, but would still like to support the Parish of Letefoho in East Timor then you can make a donation at: https://www.lets.net.au and click on Lets Donate on the webpage.

14.01.2022 help them build a better future Much is happening in Letefoho at present, as a result of your generosity during the weekend of March 3-4. We recently sent a total of US$30,000 (raised over 4 years) out of a required US$ 38,000 to complete the 1st of 2 school boarding houses, to Fr Helio. Ten days later he sent photos of the progress that has transpired since receiving the funds. We now need to raise only another ~$10,500! We would like to do this as soon as possible as so t...he completion date of completion will coincide with the Parish’s anniversary on 16th July. So if you were not able to donate in March and would like to contribute please go to the LETS website lets.net.au to help them build a better future. The work has all been completed by hand. No cranes have lifted the metal beams into place. They have been joined on the ground and then hoisted up by sheer manual strength. The builders are mostly villagers who have been taught on the spot, as well as guided and supervised by the local professional builders. Much manual assistance has been given by dedicated villagers of Letefoho, whose children attend the school. Below you can see the beautiful view from the position of the boarding house! Thank you for your continued support of our brothers and sisters of Letefoho. Together, as one, we are making a difference for the today and tomorrow of many.

10.01.2022 LETS has been raising money for this truck, in support of the Rotary International Water Project for the Letefoho region. The truck is to carry water in the very dry seasons, to the tanks installed at the 3 Letefoho schools, medical clinic and marketplace. It will also be used for other Parish work when not in use for water carting.

03.01.2022 A message from Eddie : These are some photos I took on Thursday 18th of January 2018. I saw a lot of parents working on the building, getting sand and rocks to fill the base of the classrooms. Some of the children walk 3-4 hours to get to the school. Parents want their children to have an opportunity for a better future. ... Student numbers have risen to approximately 172 from 110 last year. I feel very proud that all of us have contributed, giving hope to these poor and sometimes forgotten people. God bless. Eddie.
