24.01.2022 Dear Friends, winter has settled in so our next gig will have a "Xmas in July" theme but also plenty of swinging tunes too. Hope to see you all at the Mentone RSL on Sunday July 1 - meals from noon and the band plays from 1 to 4pm.

14.01.2022 We are back as usual on the 4th Sunday at the Mentone RSL August 25 from 1 to 4pm - $20/16 - meals from midday at extra cost. Great vocals from Anna and Daniel and the JASSisters.

11.01.2022 Australian music legend Errol Buddle died last Thursday Feb 22. A brilliant ‘doubler’ on most of the reed family, he made his reputation in being a founding member of the Australian Jazz Quartet/Quintet in the 1950s whilst working in America and Canada; he also introduced the Bassoon into the Jazz scene. The AJQ became one of the top 5 Jazz groups on tour in America and backed singers Chris Connor and Carmen McRae, Errol also played with Woody Herman on occasion. I had the... honour and privilege as Editor of the Victorian Jazz Club’s magazine Jazzline to interview Errol in Sydney in December 2011. It was published as Vol.45, No1, Autumn 2012. As a non-typist it took a lot of work along with editing and fine-tuning by Errol to put it all together but Errol was very pleased with the end result and his pleasure in having someone take an interest in his very rich and varied musical life made the effort most worthwhile indeed. A personal regret was never having an opportunity to have a ‘blow’ with him and his dear friend pianist Maree, it almost happened a couple of times. 07.01.2022 The year is coming to a close and The LET'S DANCE BIG BAND are completing their fourth year at the Mentone RSL with the last gig on Dec 3 - 1 to 4pm. Come and join us with your friends. Good meals from midday.
