24.01.2022 The government plans to cut the Mental Health Care Plan from a maximum 18 rebated sessions to a max of 10 rebated sessions (for proffessional services). Many families acessing Let's Play use this medicare plan to subidise fees for much needed therapy for their child. A concerned parent is circulating a petition, please show your support by submitting your details https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NoCutsToMentalHealth

24.01.2022 Let's Play Developmental Therapy is a Brisbane based private practice specialising in working with young children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and associated sensory processing challenges. The practice takes a social-emotional and play-based approach to therapy, using the DIR/Floortime model in our fully equipped sensory/play gym. We are looking to recruit a part-time or full-time OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST in the coming months. We are looking for someone who... will enthusiastically embrace the DIR/Floortime model. We will offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience ($50-75K FTE), and allocate a yearly professional development budget. Previous experience in paediatric occupational therapy with children diagnosed with an ASD is essential. A minimum of two years mental health experience is also required, as the clinic delivers services for the Medicare 'Better Access to Mental Health' package. Finally, experience in practicing DIR/Floortime, or other play-based therapy or sensory-motor therapy would be an advantage. If you are interested in working with us, we invite you to submit an expression of interest, including a resume or CV, to: Email: [email protected] Post: PO Box 924, North Lakes QLD 4509 For full details regarding our clinic and the position on offer, please visit our website at www.letsplaytherapy.com.au.

18.01.2022 Great news! Let's Play Developmental Therapy is now approved to be a provider for the Helping Children With Autism Strategy (HCWA) which is a federal government initiative through the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services & Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).

18.01.2022 Very sadly, most people probably won't copy and paste this. Will you do it and leave it on your status for at least an hour? April is Autism Awareness Month and it's Special Education week, and this is in HONOR of all the children who need a little extra help, patience & understanding.

17.01.2022 Dyspraxia a personal perspective This video describes dyspraxia from a personal perspective, it’s 8 minute but worth the watch. Ellie explains her experience growing up with dyspraxia. It’s fabulous to hear her say she’s, Dyspraxic and fantastic! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cugRkzeujB0&feature=youtu.be

16.01.2022 http://shopau.sensorytools.net/ Hi everyone, Some of the families attending Let's Play have been looking for crash mats/cushions for their homes. The above website has small & large crash mats on sale for $7 & $10 respectively. This is an Australian site, so postage is relatively cheap. You will have to fill these mats with foam or bean bag beans. You can sometimes get foam from reverse garbage in west end
