23.01.2022 Write off Bad Debts. Review your list of customer invoices outstanding to identify any customers who you have made attempts to recover payment but it seems high...ly unlikely that you will receive payment. If you account for income on an accruals basis then you will be paying tax on the income unnecessarily if you don’t physically take action to write off the debt. You’ll need to keep records to substantiate that you made your decision to write off the debt prior to the end of the financial year See more

17.01.2022 Bookkeeping tip #4: Open a separate Bank Account so you can provision your Super, GST and PAYG withholding on a regular basis. This will take the stress out of meeting these obligations as you will be able to just pay them when they become due. It is not your money GST is the Australian Economies and Super and PAYG Withholding is your employees money. I would suggest getting in the habit of provisioning Super and PAYG Withholding each time you pay your employees. Each month work out the GST you need to provision and put that aside as well. That way when it comes to paying your BAS and Super it is as easy as transferring the money.

13.01.2022 Bookkeeping tip #2: Go through your Accounts Receivable at the end of each month and make sure what is in your report, is all that is owed to you including credits. Then anything that is over X days you send out a Statement.

11.01.2022 Bookkeeping tip #5: If you have someone else doing your books whether it be an employee or a Bookkeeper time is money! The more organised you can be for the person entering this information the quicker they will do it and the cheaper it will be! Make sure you give ALL receipts, information about income and if you have payroll then make sure there is everything that is needed to set up an employee. Include everything needed to set up a new employee including Timesheets, TFN Declaration, Super Choice Form and Employee personal information. It is also helpful to have the Modern Award that you will be paying them and the pay rate per hour or Salary amount.

04.01.2022 Bookkeeping tip #1: Go through your Accounts Payable at the end of each month and make sure what you owe is all entered and documented on your Accounts Payable Ageing Summary. If a bill has already been paid, investigate why it is in your outstanding payables report. This includes credits.

03.01.2022 Bookkeeping tip #3: It’s really important to make sure that ONLY Business Bank Accounts are in your Accounting file. If you are a sole trader and you have your Business and Personal money in one account I would recommend you separate them. It is so much more work to code to personal drawings and if you are paying someone to do that - it is a lot more costly and really a waste of time! A good practice is to reconcile at least monthly, but I would suggest each day or week. If you don’t reconcile all your bank accounts how do you know you haven’t missed either income to declare or expenses to claim.

01.01.2022 What a great afternoon visiting Jason & Deb and of course Rio at Dynamic Workwear

01.01.2022 National Minimum Wage and Modern Award wages increase by 1.75%: The national minimum wage will increase to $753.80 per week or $19.84 per hour. This constitutes an increase of $12.96 per week to the weekly rate or 0.35 cents per hour to the hourly rate. In its decision, the FWC varied modern award minimum wages and decided on three operative dates which have been chosen based on the impacts of the pandemic on each sector. ... "group one" awards, such as frontline healthcare and social assistance workers, and other essential services, will receive their increase on or after 1 July 2020. "group two" awards, in construction, manufacturing, clerical employees and other industries, will receive the increase on or after 1 November 2020. "group three", (those most affected by the pandemic), in accommodation/food services etc will receive the increase on or after 1 February 2021. Where do I find updated award rates of pay? Modern awards will be updated on the Fair Work Australia website or by doing a Google for your Modern award. If you have any questions regarding the minimum wage increase, or about any of the above information, please contact us on 07 3394 8381.
