20.01.2022 This is an amazing story about a father who embarked on a radical experiment to improve his son's social skills. I did something similar with my son in his early years by exposing him to different environments consistently and repetitively. I did however prepare him for what to expect in terms of reading books, creating social stories and role playing. Eventually he overcame his anxiety and sensory challenges and present day enjoys going to the movies, museum, zoo, airports, supermarket, musicals, etc. There is definitely merit and I commend the father for taking a risk. Remember that every child is unique and will respond differently. Just never give up!!!!

06.01.2022 Empowering and building the Functional Capacity of Parents and Carers is the key to the best outcomes for children.
06.01.2022 https://inews.co.uk//uks-first-nationwide-quiet-hour-for-/ In a nationwide campaign to help people with Autism Spectrum Disorder feel comfortable whilst shopping, the shopping centre owner Intu has partnered with the National Autistic Society to create an autism friendly environment by dimming the lights, and turning down the music in shops and restaurants in its shopping centre. What a remarkable campaign to reduce the triggers of sensory overload for people on the spectrum. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of many more.
05.01.2022 I would just like to put this out there. If your children are not around special needs children at school, and have never been taught that not everyone is the same, then maybe you could take 10 minutes tonight to explain this to them. Because even though they may not be around these children at school, they will encounter them in their lives, as it should be. In the light of recent events on the exclusion of a child who has autism from participating in a school trip, and a ch...ild with Down Syndrome being kicked out of dance class because she couldn't keep up, I feel the need to share this. There are boys and girls that nobody invites to birthday parties. There are special kids who want to belong to a team but don't get selected because it is more important to win than to include these children. Children with special needs are not rare or strange; they only want what everyone else wantsto be accepted !! For all the wonderful children out there. Can I ask a question? Is there anyone willing to copy and paste this post to their wall without sharing it, like I did for those special children out there? Please teach your children to be kind to these beautiful children!
