25.01.2022 To our DSAMP community. Thank you for your patience, however the Eventbrite booking system, which was due to be online today, unfortunately will not 'go live' until further notice. The recent increase in Covid cases in Victoria have warranted the DSAMP committee to consider whether it is in the best interests of our community to hold the event on the 16th of January 2021. We are currently seeking advice from our DSAA National Executive.... We anticipate making a decision by the end of this week, as further information comes to light from the Victorian Government and our National body. We hope to bring good news, as we all want to surf. But please know the health and safety of our surfers, carers and volunteers is our focus. Thanks for your patience. Stay tuned.... Best Regards, DSAMP team

23.01.2022 Hope everyone is having a great day. We look forward to seeing you all soon.

22.01.2022 DSAMP January 16th Event 1 Update. Good Morning DSAMPers, Please note, these directives are subject to change at any stage due to the nature of COVID times. DSAMP will attempt to operate our first event this season under the following adjusted format. We have the health and safety of our DSAMP community in mind, and in line with Victorian guidelines we have to limit attendance at our event. We understand that due to having to restrict numbers at our events (Currently 100pax...), unfortunately this will mean that many of our surfers and volunteers will miss out in attending our ‘event area’ for our January event. (note: you can still come to the beach and cheer surfers on outside of our designated ‘event area’) All volunteers, surfers and carers entering the DSAMP ‘event area’ will need to register online via EVENTBRITE prior to the day. There will be no registrations on the day. We will have further details around the specifics and a date for online registration in our next update on the 24th of December, 2020. Please note this will be a ‘first in - best dressed’ process. We will be sharing more details with you all through our 'mailchimp' email service shortly. If you are currently not receiving these, and would like to be kept in the loop, please send us your details; [email protected]. Thanks from the DSAMP Team

18.01.2022 Hear from DSAMP red shirt Muzza why he loves our events: https://www.facebook.com/195708050509936/videos/667909446940098

16.01.2022 Happy first day of Summer. Do you know what that means? Not long now till our first event of 2021. If you haven't put it in your calendar, be sure to save the date; Event One - Saturday 16th January. More details on how our COVID Safe events will be structured to come....

15.01.2022 Hi Folks, As you all know, we are doing what we can to get an event up and running in Jan. 2021, and at this point we are still proceeding. We have the health and safety of our DSAMP community in mind, and in line with Victorian guidelines we have to limit attendance at our event. We understand that due to having to restrict numbers at our events, unfortunately this will mean that many of our surfers and volunteers will miss out in attending our ‘event area’ for our January e...vent. (note: you can still come to the beach and cheer surfers on outside of our designated ‘event area’) All volunteers, surfers and carers entering the DSAMP ‘event area’ will need to register online via EVENTBRITE prior to the day. There will be no registrations on the day. The event will go LIVE on Eventbrite Monday 4th January. Our total event number will be capped at 100pax. This will be ‘first in best dressed’. Volunteers: At this point in time we will be limited to 20pax - ‘Water based’ volunteers Surfers and Parents/Carers: We will stagger arrival & departure times to facilitate enough space to meet social distancing guidelines in changing areas. We will have eight (8) surfers every hour. This allows us to offer 32 surfers a spot at riding the waves at our January event. To make this happen it is imperative that the parent / carer keeps to this time allocation. Surfers and carers will need to register online prior to the event, via Eventbrite, for a 15 minute slot in above sessional times Parent / Carer: Unfortunately with our gathering restrictions, we are only allowing one parent / carer per surfer within our DSAMP ‘event area’. Note: We will have wetsuits available, but fitting of wetsuits and changing will need to be completed 100% by the surfer with assistance from carer/parent if needed. Catering: Unfortunately, due to the restrictions we are unable to offer catering etc at this specific event please BYO sunscreen, water, towel, and food. Point Leo kiosk and Point Leo General Store will both be open if you wish to purchase anything. DSAMPers: We would love to get the whole crew back together but at the moment this is the only way we can still offer our special program. As mentioned earlier, people of course are unrestricted and can attend the beach and cheer our surfers on from outside the DSAMP ‘event area’. Please note, these directives are subject to change at any stage due to the nature of COVID times. Please continue follow our FACEBOOK and Instagram pages for ongoing updates or message us with any questions our next official update will include details of our COVIDSafe plan.

08.01.2022 Hi Folks, We are still busy preparing for our events in 2021. As mentioned in earlier posts, these are going to look a little different, most likely smaller and will involve a ‘Pre-Registration’ process (Eventbright) so as that we can monitor/limit numbers. The DSAMP committee are still keen to run events in the new year, and will ensure we align with Health Department regulations . Please stand-by for more details. Many thanks DSAMP Team

02.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing DSAMPers on the beach

02.01.2022 To our wonderful DSAMP community. January 16th Event is cancelled. Hi DSAMP Legends,... Thank you for your patience with our first event of 2021. Your messages of support are greatly appreciated. We could not do this without the incredible support of our brilliant community...YOU! We are a volunteer organization whose mission is to provide a safe and fun surfing experience for people who have a disability. The DSAMP executive and committee has been voluntarily organizing these events since 2011. We do it because we love the ocean and wish to share this 'stoke' with everyone. We began planning our January 2021 event in October last year and have been working hard to get our 2021 events up and running. Sadly, as Victorians, we have all been impacted by this global pandemic. With the recent return of COVID to Victoria, the committee has had to consider if running our first event is in the best interests of all. In consultation with our event partners, we have made the tough decision to cancel our January event. We understand that this will be disappointing news for our awesome surfers, carers and volunteers. Rest assured, we will make every effort to continue putting smiles on dials, down at Point Leo, in the near future. So legends, please stay tuned and keep following our social media pages for a celebration of surf love from our previous events, coming soon! On behalf of the DSAMP Committee
