22.01.2022 Being Authentic Steiner speaks so much about routine, rhythm, creativity and order. Instagram projects this image of perfection. Manu accounts try to push this image of perfection and a picture perfect ideal. Being true and authentic to our Let’s Play beliefs and Steiner and his philosophy, we not only acknowledge but aim to promote sharing the imperfections and the parts of the rhythm and routine that aren’t picture perfect that you might not want to readi...ly share. I share this video because even though the circle isn’t perfect, the teacher had to help the children hold the right hands and it didn’t flow smoothly, this video is a beautiful example that despite all the things not picture perfect it was perfect in its imperfections. Start to see the beauty in the chaos, the organised chaos and the parts of the day where it isn’t picture perfect. Once you let go of perfectionist ideals, you start to truely see beauty and wonder See more

20.01.2022 Love For Nature Stop to smell the eucalyptus... we teach the children through experiences. We want to the children to indulge their senses when learning. Lucia and the children went on a bush walk. We found a fallen branch of eucalyptus so we stopped and taught the children that these leaves smell beautiful and all the amazing medicinal purposes these trees provide such as, asthma, bad coughs, head lice etc

14.01.2022 Bushwalk Today was our first bushwalk all together! Bushwalking is an amazing way to promote a deep love for Mother Earth and build strong relationships with friends, teachers, animals and plants. Teachers hold the space so the children can explore and live out wholesome childhood experiences such as; * Tree climbing... * Building cubby’s with big sticks * Rope swinging * Picnics The outdoors develops and stimulates all the senses for young children (and adults too). So, because understand how nourishing it is, we ensure to go on weekly bushwalks! On each walk we make something from nature or in nature to bring back to the preschool so we can have Mother Earth beautifying our space See more

14.01.2022 Power of Being Present Children often don’t need our help in the way that we think. It’s our job as the adult to understand and know what children mean when they say things because while they may be using words, they’re still learning to identify their own needs. Often times a plea for help is them saying can you be present with me while I try doing this new thing and encourage me when you see I need it?. This image is a beautiful picture of this understanding. S...ophie is completely present, and little Ava is eagerly watching also, while Harper weaves ribbon in and out of a leaf. Being asked to be present is such a simple thing to do but because life can be chaotic and our adult egos can get in the way, we forget just how powerful it can be.

11.01.2022 Imitation in Play Lilu is giving Vincent a sip of a drink she made for him. He’s taken a break from hammering and building to have it - such a simple photo that shouts so much learning... Imitation. ... Learning. Connection. Imaginative. Play. Fantasy. Social. Sharing. And so many more! It’s at times like this, we feel nothing but privileged to be able to witness such learning

07.01.2022 Playgroup Come along to playgroup tomorrow with your little one for a morning filled with songs, bread baking and free play!

07.01.2022 The Art of Caring The act of caring for another being expecting nothing in return takes pure will stemming from a place of unconditional love. In a society that is based off conditions such as, exchanging money for privileges, we work hard to teach children the act of caring is simply our responsibility that come with being human. ... We teach the children that every being has love. Sometimes it’s harder to see other people’s love but that just tells us we need to show ours more, to help them see theirs. A beautiful way to teach this life lesson is through caring for animals. One needs to earn their trust, through caring for them, before they’ll trust us and show us unconditional love. Jeff, our Guinepig, is enjoying a carrot while being wrapped in Harper’s caring and loving arms

05.01.2022 Grounding Often times the child’s Life Sense needs to be nurtured and cared for. What’s a life sense you might be thinking... Life Sense is that feeling of hunger or thirst or that feeling of happiness or sadness. When when children start bouncing off the walls and seem like their off with the fairies, these are clear signs that the child’s Life Sense needs to be stimulated and nurtured. In nurturing this, it helps the child to ground themselves. ... We have many tricks that we use to develop this sense. One of our favourite is our Sandwich game. In this photo our teacher Sophie is our first slice of bread and then the children come up with what layer of the sandwich they want be and then everyone stacks on top of one another. The reason this is so great for the Life Sense is because the child can physical feel themselves in their body. They can discern their physical place in the world.. it’s also a lot of fun to jump on top of one another and the teacher and have a big cuddle!

04.01.2022 Experience over Outcome Children are beautiful and complex, they’re loving and strong willed, to assume that every child by a certain age should be able to do X, Y and Z is a lot of pressure for a child who should be enjoying playing and learning in their own way. Children are unique - they each learn differently from each other. We must support children in experiences, not outcomes. A by product of those experiences however, are outcomes. But confusing the two can be ...dangerous to healthy development of the whole child. When we paint with the children, they immerse themselves in the experience. Feeling bristles of the brush on the the page, watching the colours spread, being the creator and deciding where the colours go.. there is so much more learning, on many different levels, in the experience rather than the outcome. The end result is just a beautiful byproduct of the experience

01.01.2022 The Essence of Being Human What is the essence of being human? Well, this photo captures that... Ruby is Indie’s older sister. Everyday at nap time, Indie wants her big sister Ruby’s hand to hold because she finds it comforting. ... Ruby, without being asked, sacrifices her rest time (and probably her comfortability) to make sure her little sister feels safe by holding her hand until she falls asleep. Once Ruby thinks her little sisters asleep she whispers to Shanti or Sophie is she asleep? And when she gets the all clear from the teachers, she gently removes her hand, turns over and then takes her rest time. This is the essence of what we teach. We guide the children to nourish their senses like compassion, empathy and warmth in their hearts. Operating from this space of love, allows us when we grow older to be critical thinkers but not at the expense of others. We repeat the belief that a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. 01.01.2022 Educator Appreciation This year has been like no other. Thanks to our teachers and beautiful families who have been nothing but supportive, we celebrate our teachers at Let’s Play Daycare. Steiner teachers go above and beyond in a regular year. But this year, to say above and beyond doesn’t come close to what they have done. ... Thank you to every Early Childhood Teacher out there. You are directly responsible for shaping the future. You’ve put yourselves on the frontlines and your health second every day that you come into work despite COVID. You are seen, you are recognised, you are thanked

01.01.2022 Artwork As a Steiner teacher you accept that in order to give quality care and provide rich experiences to the children, you need to be proactive and willing to put in that extra effort. @la.luna.lucia one of our educator went above and beyond and our children are very fortunate to have such a caring teacher. She spent her entire evening carving shapes out of potatoes so the children could make stamp patterns with natural materials and paints to create beautiful... artworks. While the children may not know intellectually what’s gone into this experience, they definitely feel the love, joy and dedication of their teacher See more
