17.01.2022 In one of the toughest years ever faced by the Leukaemia Foundation - you answered the call. Through your support, Light the Night has so far raised $930,500 to help fund blood cancer research and help families through their darkest days. This money will be invested in the search for faster diagnoses and better treatments. It will save lives. This money will also cover the cost of things like emergency accommodation near treatment for rural and regional families and access ...to specialists who can help people navigate the system and their treatment at every step. We can’t tell you how much your support means.

17.01.2022 Stacey had to stay in the Leukaemia Foundation village in 2016. She had no choice. Her husband, Charlie, had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and they needed to be close to the treatment that would save his life.... It took a whole year and a stem cell transplant, but he was finally able to say he was cancer-free. But four years later, it came back. Charlie had just started his second round of chemo when he decided they should Light the Night from home. Stacey led the fundraising charge. She wanted to honour Charlie and thank the Leukaemia Foundation for their 2016 stay. By the end of the Light the Night evening, she had raised over $10,000! Charlie's friends and family signed up too! They all raised enough in his honour to receive their own lanterns to Light the Night. Life-changing services like no-cost accommodation are only possible thanks to people like Stacey. Thank you, Stacey! You are a Light the Night shooting star.

14.01.2022 Winston was like any other 11-year-old boy he enjoyed going to school, playing sports (hockey and basketball are his favourites), and playing with his friends. This all changed on May 6th this year, when Winston was diagnosed with T-acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. This year was really tough, and even tougher when my doctor said that I had blood cancer, Winston told us. ... I thought going to the hospital was going to be okay, but I realised that things were going the opposite way around. I was becoming sicker every day. Soon, Winston was moved to an intensive care unit. It was an incredibly worrying time for him and his family, as overnight Winston became unable to do all the things he loved doing before with his friends and family. Fortunately, Winston is now back at home with his family, although staying in isolation due to COVID-19 has proved tough too, he says. Though I have spent lots of time in isolation for cancer treatment, being in isolation again due to COVID-19 has been challenging. I met a few friends that had blood cancer too, though. I think it’s good to have friends around. Wanting to give back to the blood cancer community and the Leukaemia Foundation for all the support they received, Winston's family began fundraising for Light the Night so far, Winston has managed to raise an incredible total of over $10,000! This makes Winston one of our Light the Night 2020 Shooting Stars. Congratulations on your amazing efforts Winston we couldn’t Light the Night without you and your phenomenal generosity and selflessness.

11.01.2022 We're all with you, Megan! We can't wait to light the night with you again this year, once your transplant is complete.
