The Synod through their letter very strongly recommended that we should not be meeting in person in any gathering. This is to take effect immediately so no Sunday services will be conducted at Leura Uniting Church from this coming Sunday 22 March, 20 to Sunday 26 April20

13.01.2022 It is great as 2018 comes to an end our page has reached over 1000 Likes. Thank you. Throughout the year we’ve continued to provide countless warm and nutritiou...s meals through our community lunches. Three days of fresh food through our Food Rescue program distributed to the community. Our Church Hall continues to be a space where children can receive educational support, learn martial arts, dance the Tango and our space supports local music with live performances throughout the year. Our weekly Friday and Saturday market continues to add colour to the street. This year has also seen another grassroots community join us. Toolo is a Library where members can borrow tools. Once a month they hold their Repair Cafe as well as other community events. 2019 is an opportunity to see our efforts continue and expand. See more

11.01.2022 After meditating on the reading from Luke6:27-38 we pondered on people we consider who our ‘enemies’ are. These initials were written onto rocks. Holding the rock a prayer of blessing was said for that person. After praying the rock was washed and we allowed God to wash away any grudges we have held against that person as the water washes the ink off.

10.01.2022 As #bushfires continue to rage across NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia President Dr Deidre Palmer has asked Uniting Church members to pray and take p...ractical action to comfort family and friends of those who have died or lost their homes. Emergency services, firefighters, community leaders and chaplains are working on the ground to protect peoples lives, their communities, and livelihoods. We pray for all those who are suffering, that they might know Gods grace, love and comfort. In this time we are strengthened by our solidarity in community, our love and compassion toward our neighbours, and our resolve to walk alongside one another in our grief, and in our efforts to rebuild and bring restoration to peoples lives. I encourage you over these coming weeks and months to take time to listen to those who are traumatised; to be attentive to ways we can most effectively support bushfire victims, which may be through pastoral and practical care, or direct financial support to official appeals. Please continue to pray and offer messages of encouragement and support.

05.01.2022 An important message from our Moderator: We are watching, compelled by the apocalyptic images of these fires which fill our screens, fires we had once believed... were impossible. After the horrors of the last few weeks, we had hoped that Christmas brought a change, but the reality is otherwise. The fires we had seen in the north and west of our state and in South Australia, are now rampaging south into the Illawarra and Shoalhaven, and throughout the Mallee in Victoria. I have been talking with Rev. Dr Stephen Robinson, who coordinates Disaster Response for the whole Uniting Church. We have Chaplains at each Evacuation Centre, the numbers of which are growing, as people flee their holidays and their homes to comparative safety. At this moment, I am calling all of us, particularly those who are safe, to pray for everyone in the path of these fires, and whose lives and property are at risk of harm. Please keep praying for hope, for shelter, for safety, for rain. These are difficult days, and there are more difficult days to come. 05.01.2022 Like Jesus said he was the light to our path. He never said what sort of lights. Leura uniting is meeting up again this Sunday. We will be streaming our first service on Sunday so we can keep people safe. To ensure everyone can safely hear the word of the lord we will post a video of our first service back soon after on Sunday.
