23.01.2022 . Front squats and back squats are the two most popular versions of this foundational exercise, but they work your major muscle groups in different ways. . ?... . The main difference between the front squat and the back squat is where you position the barbell. When performing a front squat, the bar is held in the fingertips (or directly on the front of the shoulders) and is supported by the front deltoids. Conversely, in a back squat, the bar rests across your trapezius and rear delts, so the weight is loaded on the back of your body. . Front squatting recruits the chain of your bodys anterior muscles () more heavily, engaging the quads and core to a greater degree. Back squatting, on the other hand, emphasizes the posterior chain () the large muscle groups of the back, glutes, and hamstrings. . Where you hold the bar also affects how youre inclined to move throughout the exercise. With back squats your torso is more inclined to lean forward as you perform the exercise. With front squats, because of where the weight is loaded, youre forced to remain more vertical If you lean forward on a front squat like you do back squatting, youll lose your balance and drop the bar at your feet, This makes the front squat a more quad-dominant movement. . 12.01.2022 & . . During the sports season it can be hard to get into a solid gym routine, especially when you are training twice a week often Tuesdays/Thursdays and then game days on Saturdays! For a lot of the boys I know they are often. 1. Finding it hard to do both during the week in amongst work and family time. 2. Often over training and not being 100% come game days due to being too fatigued.... 3. Just being lazy bastards and not putting in the extra work to perform at their full potential or putting zero work in outside of training and wondering why they are struggling on field and potentially not hitting their health and fitness goals. . I often recommend a 3 day workout cycle that covers all muscle groups and is easy to follow for those wanting to put in some extra work and dont know where to start. it is just up to you to come up with a plan of how you can incorporate the gym into your season and being honest if you are struggling to get motivated there is nothing wrong with getting in on group fitness sessions at your local gym it can only compliment your performance on the weekends right? 04.01.2022 Using a trap bar allows for the torso to be more upright during the lift and is a good way to build some basic strength before slowly transitioning to a regular deadlift. With more of an upright torso it allows displacement of loading across the entire hip and lower body, unlike the regular conventional deadlift which is often limited by lower and middle back strength at higher loads.
