23.01.2022 Clean and contemporary. We had the pleasure of completing the design & construct for Peter Gill Medical Centre. This 180m2 practice offers patients a warm and welcoming care environment through its tailored blend of blues and neutrals. The legacy of the original practice was fused into the revamped branding and signage. 20.01.2022 Throwback Thursday! Levitch Design showcases urban elegance in a Melbourne CBD practice. When you make a living from designing and beautifying your clients smiles, you want your dental surgery to reflect the aesthetic nature of your work. Thats exactly what Dr Chris Dimos had in mind. Dr Dimos had been wanting to update his dental practice for years and hired Levitch Design Australia to build a new surgery from the ground up. We started working with Dr Dimos before he had... even purchased a new property and assisted with the lease negotiations, design and fit-out process. The main design brief was to give the clinic a spa-like feel which reflected the cosmetic-driven services. Located on level 7 of the IBC building in the Melbourne CBD means that the surgery is treated to magnificent city views. The waiting area, furnished with a leather couch, an ottoman, plush chairs and a plasma TV, feels more like the lounge room of a luxury apartment. The mix of avant-garde designs (faux cracked marble reception desk and fabric wall) look surprisingly posh and stylish. Each room has ample space for operators, assistants and family members and is equipped with high-end clinical equipment. Despite some unexpected challenges, we were able to complete the project within four months. In the words of Dr Dimos, Their work ethic is matched only by the actual construction. The final result truly combines great aesthetics with great functionality. I would recommend their services in a heartbeat! Thank you, Dr Dimos! 18.01.2022 Universal Design (aka as Universal Access) is the design and construction of a space so it can be accessed and used to the greatest extent by all people regardless of their age, ability or disability. If an environment is accessible, usable, convenient and a pleasure to use everyone benefits. Universal Design creates products, services and spaces that meet peoples needs; it is good design. Universal Design encourages companies to go beyond the bare minimum to make healthc...are facilities universally accessible. There is a stronger focus on data-driven evidence-based design to reduce stress and make a facility more welcoming for patients by incorporating better lighting, biophilia and more homelike features. The seven principles of Universal Design were established in 1997 by a group of architects, product designers, engineers and environmental design researchers in North Carolina State University. The purpose of the principles is to provide a guideline for the design of medical facilities. Principle 1 (Equitable Use) The facility is accessible for all people with diverse abilities. Principle 2 (Flexibility in Use) The design accommodates for a wide range of individual preferences and abilities. Principle 3 (Simple and Intuitive Use) The design is easy to understand and navigate regardless of a patients experience, knowledge or language. Principle 4 (Perceptible Information) The design communicates necessary information to a patient, regardless of their sensory abilities. Principle 5 (Tolerance for Error) The design eliminates hazards and the consequences of accidental or unintended actions. Principle 6 (Low Physical Effort) The design can be used efficiently with a minimum of fatigue. Principle 7 (Size and Space for Approach and Use) Appropriate size and space provided for approach and use, regardless of users body size, posture or mobility. Healthcare design is in constant evolution. To be successful, healthcare facilities must continuously adapt to meet the needs of a diverse population.

The key things to take into consideration when selecting a new medical or dental practice are: Scope out the competition: Stay away from areas that already have a high concentration of medical or dental clinics. Having already established healthcare facilities in the same area may make it more difficult to grow your clientele. Accessibility: How easy is it to get to your practice? Is it located clo...se to public transport? Parking options: What are the parking options? Nobody wants to waste time trying to find parking, especially before an appointment that they may already be stressed about. Visibility: Can patients see your practice easily? Having an easily visible practice will help people feel at ease when they visit for the first time, and will even help to promote your facility to passersby. If your building is harder to see from the road, having signs will help direct your patients. Cater to people of all abilities: Ensure that your practice is easy to access for people who have limited mobility. Ramps and elevators are a bonus. Exterior: First impressions count. The look of a building has a more important role to play than people realise; nobody wants to visit a building that looks run down and dingy. Ensure that the outside of your facility looks well maintained and inviting. Inspect a few different locations: Dont just settle on the first location you like.
