25.01.2022 Picnic Rocks, Bay of Fires Visiting Tasmania's northeast coast can feel like you're exploring a remote desert island. Glowing granite boulders, deserted white sand beaches and turquoise blue water. And not a piece of rubbish in sight. Take me back! Australia.com
25.01.2022 Morning Ritual Whenever I’m traveling somewhere new I always try to get up before dawn and head somewhere to see how the locals start their day. I got to this temple in Bagan just before dawn to witness the temple keeper lighting candles and saying his morning prayers before opening up the temple for the day.
25.01.2022 Old Man of Storr Another shot from the Isle of Skye taken last year. There's no such thing as an early start when you get a mountain to yourself at sunrise and breathtaking scenery like this. B&W image taken on the same morning here https://www.facebook.com//pb.21980599152/499786753523335/... VisitScotland
24.01.2022 Ice - Jökulsárlón, Iceland Walking along the black sand beach watching icebergs rolling in on the waves is a pretty weird experience. This iceberg was grounded just of the beach, bobbing backwards and forwards. Eventually it stopped moving enough to be able to capture a long exposure to smooth out the waves washing around it. 25s, f/14, ISO100 with 6 stop ND filter.

23.01.2022 No Need to Run - Thorsmork, Iceland Clouds, rain, sun, wind, rainbows that last for five hours and spectacular scenery; Iceland has it all. This shot was taken on the second night of my recent trip. I was planning on heading back down to the valley floor to camp but after finding a cave in the side of the mountain, I couldn't resist spending the night up there. A storm front was forecast to move through overnight but the cave was around five metres long and one metre high s...o i knew it would provide adequate protection. Torrential rain and gale force winds came through overnight. I was peering out of the cave in amazement trying not to let my mind run away into irrational thoughts of being stuck in there for days, running out of water or losing my gear to the storm. I got about two hours of broken sleep that night but what an amazing experience. When I got back down the mountain the next day the storm had blown over a trailer and smashed the windows of vehicles and the campers hut in the base of the valley.
23.01.2022 Last Days of Winter Camping in the Ramshead range last winter, it was easy to imagine we were on another continent in another time. We battled the winds for 40 minutes until sunset (the sun was there somewhere) before retreating down the gully to the warmth and safety of our tents in the tree line. Our freeze-dry meals and rations of chocolate never tasted so good.

21.01.2022 Waiting for the Magic to Happen I've been through Rocky Creek Canyon several time before and every time it feels slightly different. Something different catches the eye and the light and temperature changes the look and feel of the canyon. This time it was the light beams that switched on and off intermittently as the clouds passed overhead, adding to the magic.
20.01.2022 The Old Man of Storr Skye is a magical place with constantly changing weather and light. Two hours before dawn, I clambered out the back of the van and hiked up the mountain to this small hill overlooking the Old Man. As the sun rose, he slowly revealed himself; his stooped frame peering out to sea watching the sun rise over the ocean.
19.01.2022 Great afternoon checking out the Gardens of Stone In Focus exhibition at the University of Sydney and hearing such passionate people speak about why this area needs protecting as National Park. You can check out the exhibition between 10am and 2pm tomorrow at the New Law Building, University of Sydney. http://gardensofstone.org.au #gardensofstone
18.01.2022 If you're in the Blue Mountains this weekend, make sure you check out the BentArt Exhibition at Wentworth Falls School of Arts. You can also get your hands on Print No. 1 of Nowhere Left to Run (Thorsmork, Iceland) and Hanging Rock (Blue Mountains). Available 16" x 25" unframed on Canson Rag Photographique archival paper. $180.
18.01.2022 Dead Horse Gap After a long drive down to Kosciusko National Park a few weeks ago and a cold nights sleep in the car, we were greeted to this on the Saturday morning. The clouds were pretty thick but the sun managed to break through, making the discomfort all worth it and setting the scene for a fun-packed weekend in the snow.
17.01.2022 In it to Win it Last weekend was a great reminder to get out and not give in, even when things dont look favourable. The forecast was for heavy snow and strong wind; not great for a snow camping trip. Id mentally prepared myself for the fact the camera might stay buried in the bag all weekend, but I knew the conditions would be a good test of my navigation and snow skills in a relatively safe location.... In the end, the snow provided good separation between the foreground and distance. Combined with the wind, it really made it feel like a wilderness experience and I came away with some keepers.
17.01.2022 Resurgence If there's one thing that signifies the Australian winter for me, it has to be the snow gums. Each year the first winter snowfalls bring them out of their camouflage, exposing their colours and intricacies. In the next few weeks they'll be back in hiding for another year. Kosciuszko National Park, NSW
14.01.2022 It looks pretty tranquil here but we were bearing the elements for sunrise last weekend in Kosciuszko National Park. The Dead Horse Gap Track is hiding somewhere in here.
14.01.2022 #Aquavist I'm always amazed when people insist on buying bottled water when we have some of the best tap water in the world virtually for free. Around 3L of water are required to produce 1L of bottled water, bottled water is around 1,800 times more expensive than tap water and PET plastic bottles are estimated take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade... I choose tap
14.01.2022 Bagan Sunset, Myanmar It’s hard to pick where you want to go for sunset when there’s over 2,000 temples and pagodas to choose from. We had fun trying to steer our e-bikes along the sand trails to get to a temple with a good west-facing lookout and the dust really helped bring out the colours. We ended up pushing the bikes half way home though when the batteries ran out!
13.01.2022 Lake Manapouri, New Zealand It had been raining all day on the final leg of the Kepler Track (one of New Zealand's Great Walks). The clouds started to thin in the late afternoon but it wasn't looking good for sunset. Then this happened.
11.01.2022 Hole in the Wall, Blue Mountains
10.01.2022 Tallow Beach Storm On New Years Day a huge storm blew up the coast, waking us from the surreal haze we were in following a long night of celebrations. As quickly as it came, it was gone, and we rushed out to the beach to find the most incredible scene moving up the coast.
10.01.2022 Morning Ritual Whenever Im traveling somewhere new I always try to get up before dawn and head somewhere to see how the locals start their day. I got to this temple in Bagan just before dawn to witness the temple keeper lighting candles and saying his morning prayers before opening up the temple for the day.
09.01.2022 There's something eerie about starting a hike in the dark; shadows moving in the light of your head torch, the cold air and sense of adventure as you try to work out what's ahead. Then you summit, take in the calm and watch the magic happen as the new day arrives.
09.01.2022 Last weekend, I got to experience one of my top 10 sunrises down at Gerroa courtesy of Discovery Parks. Heres the final edit and some background video from Black Head near Seven Mile Beach. #DiscoveryParks #DiscoveryParksAmbassador
09.01.2022 It's Spring but there's still plenty of snow about. This is from the Snowy Mountains a couple of weeks ago.
09.01.2022 Dawn Call, U Bein Bridge It was almost hypnotic; the sound of water lapping against the shore of Taungthaman Lake and the rhythmic clap of the local monks walking the bridge to start their day. The lake was incredibly still despite some fast moving high cloud.... Sony A7R and Sony-Zeiss 16-35mm f/4 lens @35mm, f/8, 1/160s-123s, ISO100. Lee 10 stop ND.
08.01.2022 Sea Cliff Bridge and Royal National Park If you need to escape Sydney then the Royal National Park and surrounding coastline makes a good overnighter. You can even check out conditions on the sea cliff bridge webcam (http://www.seacliffbridgecam.com). This is a four minute exposure taken at 8pm as the ocean and coastline were illuminated by the rising moon.
07.01.2022 Intha Fisherman, Inle Lake The Intha fishermen have incredible balance. When not casting their baskets, they row their boats by wrapping their leg around the oar whilst standing on one leg.
07.01.2022 Kurnell Sea Cliffs This is what you missed if you stayed in bed this morning.
06.01.2022 Ab11 I Kanangra Main Canyon, Kanangra-Boyd National Park If you like abseiling waterfalls then Kanangra Main canyon has a lot of them. This is the 11th abseil, about 500m vertically below the starting point just over 1km upstream.
06.01.2022 Hvannargil, Iceland One of the great things about landscape photography is that it forces you to slow down. You notice things that you would otherwise miss and you absorb your surroundings. Even more so if you don't have a set itinerary and you have all you need on your back. It was great to be self-sufficient and just live simply for a few days. There were no deadlines, no phone reception, no emails, no fixed route, just time to explore away from civilisation. Priceless.
05.01.2022 The snow-capped Gamack Range rises above the usually turquoise water of Lake Tekapo in the South Island of New Zealand. April 2014.
05.01.2022 Myvatn, Iceland After driving from the foggy fjords on the east coast, you're greated with steaming barren ground as you enter Myvatn in northern Iceland. It's amazing how the landscape changes around every corner. Just over this hill there are geothermal baths and a huge lake surrounded by wetlands. If you like landscapes then put Iceland on your list. If you like landscapes and photography then put it to the top of your list and book your flights because it will blow you away.

03.01.2022 A long cold swim leads through the final stages of this Blue Mountains canyon.
02.01.2022 It's easy to take ski lifts and cozy resort accommodation for granted until you head off on a self-powered back country snow camping trip. It was a blustery start to Sunday but we made it up the mountain for sunrise. No one else in sight, just mountains and lots of snow. #lebent #feelthedifference #collab le bent
