22.01.2022 Throughout our life, we go through periods of being stretched & pushed by new goals and responsibilities. When we eventually reach those goals and master those responsibilities, we find ourselves in a new comfort zone. Pushing, then getting comfortable again.... Growing, then getting comfortable again. Stretching, then getting comfortable again. This is the real process of our evolution, and it never ends. So use this post to check in with yourself. Where are you now? Are you stretching and pushing to reach the next level? OR Are you taking a much-needed rest in a safe & reliable comfort zone? Contrary to the opinions of those in the hustle & grind movement, both are great, both are necessary, and both are inevitable. But, always know where you are in every moment, and seek to strike a healthy balance of the two. Too much of one is a shortcut to BURNOUT Too much of the other is wasted POTENTIAL

14.01.2022 Is That So? A Zen Story about Hakuin The Zen Master Hakuin lived in a town in Japan. He was held in high regard and many people came to him for spiritual teaching. Then it happened that the teenage daughter of his next-door neighbour became pregnant. ... When being questioned by her angry and scolding parents as to the identity of the father, she finally told them that he was Hakuin, the Zen master. In great anger the parents rushed over to Hakuin and told him with much shouting and accusing that their daughter had confessed that he was the father. All he replied was, Is that so? News of the scandal spread throughout the town and beyond. The Master lost his reputation. This did not trouble him. Nobody came to see him anymore. He remained unmoved. When the child was born, the parents brought the baby to Hakuin, You are the father, so look after him. The Master took loving care of the child. A year later, the mother remorsefully confessed to her parents that the real father of the child was the young man who worked at the butcher shop. In great distress they went to see Hakuin to apologize and ask for forgiveness. We are really sorry. We have come to take the baby back. Our daughter confessed that you are not the father. Is that so? is all he would say as he handed the baby over to them. The Master responds to falsehood and truth, bad news and good news, in exactly the same way: Is that so?

12.01.2022 When a screenwriter conceives an idea for a movie, he divides his concept into its many parts, unfolding a story that always depicts transactions between pairs of opposite conditions. In the plot are good and bad, hero and villain, saint and sinner, dark and light, humor and pathos, happiness and agony, kindliness and intolerance. Without these, there would be no movie. ... The screenwriter loves each part of his creation equally with the whole, as one idea. He does not hate the villain, despise the meanness of the cheater, or resent the intolerance of another character. Nor does he express the opposite emotions of elation, infatuation or happiness because of those happenings which we call good in the movie. And so it is in life As we become more aware of the unending transactions between pairs of opposite conditions in the universe, the less we judge things as good and evil, and the more fluid our lives become. When we see the hidden order in our apparent chaos, we foster a new love for ALL the characters in our lives, and we realise we get to star in the greatest plot ever written See more

06.01.2022 If you don’t master your money, you better be okay with a mediocre life of sacrifices and missed experiences. If you don’t master relationships, you better be okay with a troubled & chaotic home life. If you don’t master a business, you better be okay with someone else telling you what to do (and when to do it).... If you don’t master your mind, you better be okay living in fear, anxiety & depression. If you don’t master your health, you better be okay with low energy, chronic pain & dis-ease. If you don’t master the social game, you better be okay with having very little influence and making a very minimal impact. If you don’t master spirituality, you better be okay with being told what to believe, how to behave, and how bad the punishment will be if you disobey. Empowering 1 or 2 areas is great, but empowering all 7 is absolutely essential to maximising your time on earth and fulfilling your greatest potential in life.
