24.01.2022 The #InternationalBrainAwarenessWeek occurring last week revived A/Prof Cristina Morganti-Kossmann's enthusiasm for #neuroscience and her area of research on traumatic brain injury. Brain injuries of any severity are still poorly understood with no efficacious therapy in sight to reduce the debilitating consequences of this complex array of pathologies. In the article below you can learn more about the definitions, diagnosis, management and legal implications for sport ...related concussions, including recent research of CTE in Australian footballers. #braininjury #sportconcussion #AFL #CTE #medicalsciences #lexmedicuspublishing #medicolegal #classaction https://main.lexmedicus.com.au/sport-related-concussion-de/

23.01.2022 WOW! 1,687,689 steps taken during #STEPtember2020 raising donations for #CerebralPalsy. It wasn't easy this year whilst being on house arrest in Melbourne, but this didn't put a damper on the spirits of our team to raise money for an incredible cause. Daily virtual #deskercise and regular yoga sessions kept us connected and motivated throughout #steptember, and together we raised nearly $1000!... 13.01.2022 The world is still an unequal one. The places where we live, work and play may make it harder for some to reach their full health potential, while others thrive. Health inequities are not only unjust and unfair, but they also threaten the advances made to date and have the potential to widen rather than narrow equity gaps. Today is #WorldHealthDay and the #WorldHealthOrganization calls for action to eliminate health inequities, as part of a year-long global campaign to bring people together to build a fairer, healthier world. The campaign highlights #WHO’s constitutional principle that the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.

Meniscal tears can be caused by trauma or knee degeneration as the result of progressive wear and tear of the knee joint. Traumatic related injuries are commonly observed in young athletes, whereas in older adults, the #menisci may tear due to the overall degeneration of knee including the #meniscus. Learn more about this #pat...hology including causes, risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention in the article below.
