12.01.2022 When your eyes move, your brain automatically blocks your vision! This is called Saccadic masking and is the body’s way of reducing motion blur as objects and eyes move ... #lfeyecare #eyefacts #gippsland #localoptometrist #warragul #moe #drouin
11.01.2022 GIVE YOUR KIDS FREEDOM WITH CONTACT LENSES Contact lenses for kids and teenagers offer them the freedom to participate in recreational activities without the hassle of glasses and can do wonders for a child’s self-esteem. While the eyes can tolerate contact lenses at a very young age, the real question a parent needs to ask is whether their child is mature enough to take on the responsibility of wearing and caring for contact lenses. The decision is ultimately a joint one bet...ween the parent, child and your optometrist. Provided that the child is taught the correct way to insert, remove and care for their contact lenses they are unlikely to experience problems or complications. BENEFITS OF CONTACT LENSES FOR KIDS AND TEENAGERS Taking part in sports and other recreational activities without the worry and inconvenience of glasses Contacts are less vulnerable to being lost or broken They don’t interfere with the peripheral or side vision of the wearer Ideal for children who don’t want to stand out from the crowd because of their eyewear TEENAGERS AND SELF-IMAGE As kids turn into teens, they tend to become a lot more conscious of their self-image and what their peers think. For some, wearing glasses can feel awkward particularly if they don’t feel like they fit their image or if they play a lot of sport. Today’s contact lens technologies open up a world of possibilities and we’re no longer tied down to glasses as the only vision correction option. Provided the child is deemed ready for the responsibility it can be a great solution for the self-conscious teen. Interested in finding out more? Chat with us! 10.01.2022 SUZIE DYT Optical Assistant, Warragul. I grew up in Willow Grove and have always been a patient at L&F. When I moved to Warragul 18 years ago I joined the team and have been here ever since! We have a wonderful team and I enjoy coming to work everyday. As an optical assistant, I enjoy helping patients - whether it be finding the perfect frame or fixing a frame after those unfortunate accidents!... Outside of work, my hobbies include renovating, walking my dog and I enjoy sport - volleyball, netball and tennis. Our two kids have recently moved out of home, so hubby and I are empty nesters! Next year we are planning on getting away a little more in the caravan together and exploring

02.01.2022 The basics of caring for your glasses Always carry them in a case to prevent scratches and accidental damage. Preserve their original shape by removing your glasses with both hands.... Use a lens cloth to clean your glasses! The special microfibre material is especially designed not to scratch your glasses and give them a streak free finish. We have these in store, simply ask any of our friendly optical assistants on your next visit. You can use lukewarm water and a mild detergent, like dishwashing liquid. A specialist lens cleaner is also a good option. Dry with your lens cloth. Need to disinfect your glasses? Be sure to use a specialist commercial glass cleaner designed for this purpose. If you have any wear or tear issues, please come in and see us! Our optical assistants can carry out any regular maintenance issues and minor repairs free of charge for any glasses purchased at L&F Eyecare #lfeyecare #gippsland #warragul #drouin #moe
