12.01.2022 Some provocative preliminary results ... 18% of LGBTQIA+ Buddhists have been told that their identities are not in keeping with the Buddha's teachings. 55% of LGBTQIA+ Buddhists have seen or heard of sexism within Buddhist groups & temples etc. 39% have seen/heard homophobia, 23% misgendering, and 23% transphobia.

10.01.2022 About the researcher. In addition to being a researcher at Charles Darwin University, Dr Stephen Kerry has been an active member of the LGBTQIA+ communities for 30 years and identifies as genderqueer, non-binary. Their areas of research include the roles of religion in the lives of Intersex Australians and the health needs of trans and sex/gender diverse people living in the Northern Territory. Stephen is a Zen Buddhist, is a member of the Darwin Zen Group sitting with Roshi Justine Mayer in the Diamond Sangha Tradition, and underwent the Jukai ceremony in 2019, receiving the dharma name (Liáng Yuán or Cool Monkey).
