18.01.2022 How communities, and councils, rallied behind bushfire recovery Find out how a community is responding to the bushfire crisis from someone on the frontline. Stuart McConnell, of East Gippsland Shire Council tells his story: Usually in December and January you’ll find me camping at the beach. Instead, this year I spent most of summer supporting our team at the incident control centres for the East Gippsland fires. 16.01.2022 The Victorian heats of the Australasian Management Challenge were held virtually on 14 July and we are pleased to announce Glen Eira Council were the winning team. There was very strong competition this year and all teams should to be proud of their efforts and adaptability in competing. Second place went to the team from Bayside Council, equal 3rd Bass Coast and Port Phillip. Glen Eira will go on compete in the national final later in the year. Thank you to JLT again for their support as sponsor and also to all the team mentors and councils.

11.01.2022 Our participant Malcolm Roberts-Palmer says the Emerging Leaders Program is an excellent foundation for building skills and local government experience. 'A key aspect is the group project, which this year involves developing a documentary on local government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic,' he says. 'These interviews have captured the challenges and the successes of local government’s response to the pandemic and provided an important insight in how Victorians are coping with the pandemic on a daily basis.' The group hopes the documentary will become 'a pandemic recovery planning resource,' said Malcolm, who is Acting Coordinator Community Infrastructure and Social Planning, Maribyrnong City Council
