21.01.2022 Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, and the theme for 2019 is Help us shine a light on suicide prevention. As we know, the number of people who die from su...icide is astounding, and preventable. Many of us know of someone who may have lost their lives to suicide or know of someone who knows someone else who took their own lives. When we look at the statistics of male suicide in Australia, 6 out of 8 suicides are men. These figures are very similar to those in other major countries around the world with a 1F:3M ratio: South Korea, Japan, USA, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, the UK and Italy. Country with the highest ratio of male suicides is Russia, with 6 blokes taking their own lives to every woman. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. Working together to prevent suicide is critical and your support will make a big difference in raising awareness and encouraging conversations. Start talking to your mates, Check in with them. BROS is set up to support all blokes who are seeking help with breaking through barriers in their lives, or who are struggling with mental health challenges. It also offers information to those who are supporting these blokes. One of the key decisions is around whether to keep BROS as a FB closed group that is only open fo...r blokes at the moment.
