23.01.2022 So saddened to hear the news of Dean Jones passing, working in Melbourne as an assistant in the early 90’s I was sent out on my first solo assignment to capture a portrait of Deano and his then Australian captain (AB) Allan Border for Melbourne based menswear label Dom Bagnato. Growing up idolising these Aussie legends I was nervous and terrified that I would stuff up and get something wrong (no digital back then. purely analog) Deano being the professional he was sensed this and proceeded to crack jokes and clown around creating a more relaxed environment allowing me to get the job done and helping a young photographer gain confidence in the process. RIP Deano @profdeano the world has lost a truly great bloke :credit unknown #DeanJones #cricket #legend

19.01.2022 We believe Art photography is often overlooked as a true form of art to hang in homes and we can’t understand why? Photographer Liam Lynch’s work is a perfect e...xample of how surprising and impactful this beautiful medium is. Gliding Turtle is one of 5 in the edition and is on Archival Canvas stretched on aluminium frame. The size alone is impressive at 1.4 x 2 metres! This would be super sized stunning in a warehouse space or walls that go on forever. . Liam describes it best....With the early morning light filtering through the surface and the old man of the sea gently gliding past, a truly magical moment was captured. I was yet again honoured by a Green Sea Turtle two decades after photographing my first, in Cuba in 2005. . This is hanging in the gallery atm, and when I walk past, it literally takes my breath away with its sheer beauty and demanding serenity. I can only image being in the water with this incredible creature of the sea. . Green Sea Turtle Chelonia mydas, Whitsundays Australia 2018, Currently available so DM us for more details or to purchase. @liamlynchphotography . #painting #interiordesign #homedecor #popupgallery #contemporaryart #abstractart #modernart #wallart #originalart #interiorinspo #australianartist #australianart #melbourneart #propertystyling #arttoart @ Art to Art See more

07.01.2022 In the late 1990s, I proposed using IR thermal imaging to census orangutans. With a borrowed QWIP camera from JPL, I went to the LA and San Diego Zoos and was a...ble to confirm orangutans can be imaged with IR. In 2000 and 2001, with support from FLIR and volunteers, we were able to image juvenile orangutans released into a relict forest in Pasir Panjang, Central Kalimantan using a powered parachute as an aerial platform. Fast forward nearly two decades and both IR cameras and aerial platforms have shrunk in size and the safety issues have been solved. Glad to see the folks at Hutan and Liverpool John Moores University are verifying this method to directly measure orangutan numbers using drones and thermal-imaging cameras. Frankly, the technology could and should be used to assess homeothermic biomass in tropical rainforests as a measure of forest health and biodiversity. Rainforest canopies contain birds, bats, bears, rodents, as well as large and small primates. The greater the amount of such warm-blooded animals, the healthier the rainforest. See more

06.01.2022 Thank you @p4protect for highlighting the issues confronting our endangered species and for using one of my favourite elephant photo experiences in the process. Asian elephants demonstrate high intelligence. They can display compassion, are able to mimic, show grief, demonstrate altruism and self-awareness. They can also use tools and they know how to practice self care. With only 1200 Sumatran elephants left in the wild, the species is at real risk of extinction. ... We cannot stand by and let this magnificent creature become extinct. Join us in highlighting the plight of the Sumatran elephant or support @sumatranrangerproject Sumatran elephants need your help. 04.01.2022 Nepenthes, also known as tropical pitcher plants have been a fascination of mine from an early age, I grew carnivorous plants in my father’s hot house from the ...age of 10 and my pride of joy was the Australian pitcher plant also known as the Albany pitcher plant (Cephalotus follicularis). These beautiful specimens were captured in a remote forest in North Sumatra which is home to the greatest biodiversity of the highland species (Nepenthes lamii) found on the planet.
