24.01.2022 I had a wonderful day yesterday at North Star in northern NSW where a crowd of about 60 landholders were fortunate enough to here from Charles Massey author of "Call of the Reed Warbler" and Col Seis from Gulgong who practices Regenerative Agriculture through pasture cropping. This was one of the many events held as part of the inaugural National Regenerative Agriculture Day. There was discussion about increasing soil carbon and increased soil biology to both increase product...ion and provide additional nutrients into the food we are eating to ensure healthy diets. Thank you to the Northern Slopes LLS for running the day and I would love to hear from anyone who would be interested in promoting this type of agriculture in Southern Queensland. I know there are some landholders who are taking steps to implement new practices, so lets help build the momentum. See more

21.01.2022 Times might be more difficult and uncertain than they were even a few short weeks ago. But I could suggest that each day is disappearing faster than you thought - let's not let time slide, but make the most of it.

17.01.2022 I wonder how often we think that something is good enough - 'it will do', it's just for now' and then gets forgotten, leading to mediocrity, when were were expecting much more from the effort. Will good enough help you achieve your goals or do you need to aim for excellence? And how do you measure excellence? I would love your thoughts.

16.01.2022 Small Water Cycle - to re-hydrate our soils Food for thought! For those that had the beautiful rain of the last few weeks, how much infiltrated the soil - how much ran off? This is a very brief story on the 'small water cycle! What is it? Scientists have been working to understand the way our underground water systems work and have seen that the ‘small water cycle’ can mitigate the effects of our current climate issues by working with nature to re-hydrate the soil. Half of A...ustralia’s annual rainfall is evaporated into the atmosphere, largely because it can’t infiltrate a carbon-deficient, compacted soil. We must ensure that more of that water soaks into the soil to the root zone of the plants, not only to help them grow but to be transpired by these plants through their leaves back into the atmosphere, where about two-thirds of it fall again as mostly local rain. A healthy, carbon-rich soil enhances the small water cycle, which in turn retains more water in a cooler soil, generates greater local rainfall, reduces fire intensity and, importantly, and helps to create essential cloud cover. (Jeffery 2015). How? Green plant matter is the key, pasture, cropping or trees as they allow photosynthesis the interaction of the sun, water and plant work together to allowing the growth of root systems and fungi. 16.01.2022 Beautiful service for ANZAC Day in Toowoomba . The Mothers Memorial Gardens are a beautiful tribute to those that served. Lest we forget.

16.01.2022 Have just had an amazing afternoon with Jane Milburn from ‘Textile Beat‘ and author of ‘Slow Clothing’ reminding us about being ‘mindful’ when choosing clothing for ourselves and our children. Jane is inspiring with the clothes she has up-cycled and thought provoking in ways that we can carry it out. Thanks Jane for coming to Toowoomba.

15.01.2022 It's been awhile since I have posted, but it has been fun while I have been away. I spent just over 2 weeks in Israel, I country I have a huge fascination for - it was my second visit and thought it was going a ;memory' trip, but with a different tour company there was so many different places we visited. I travelled with my sister Helen Nicholson and we had a wonderful week on our own in Jerusalem staying in the Muslim area near the 'Old City' - we walked and walked and from... time to time had no idea where we were going, but every person we asked for directions was so helpful and they all had very good English. The driving / traffic was crazy and if you ever go there always get a price for a cab before you start. We also visited a friend on a kibbutz to the north of Jerusalem which was fun, and attended the end of summer party. Now it is back to work, to pay for the next trip and you will be hearing from me more often as I divide my life around two businesses, but am finally truly motivated which seems to have been lacking over the past few months! Have added a few photos, 1. the parking is a little confusing 2. the Cardno in the Old City , a freize in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, 4. sunset in Tel Aviv, 5. the Ba'hai Garden in Haifa, 6 and 7. the Sea of Galilee, 8. Helen and I on the Mount of Olives and 9. some of the spices etc in the incredible markets in Jerusalem. Despite being such a small country Israel produces most of it'w own food in greenhouses, but imports wheat and rice. See more

15.01.2022 I love to work with people and businesses that really want to achieve great things. I provide a service to allow you and your team to be able to work to their strengths and allow you to work 'on' your business and not 'in' all the time. Below are a few thoughts on how you might be able establish some protocols to help you build your business

14.01.2022 Running a bit late, Happy New Year to all. The photo was the final sunset of 2016, driving into Charleville!

14.01.2022 Love this quote, it's so true that what we give, we receive, often so much more than we have given. It may not be to the person we have given to, but from someone else and that is one of life's great rewards. Give when you can, play it forward! You never know what you will receive.

13.01.2022 Oh it's been along break between posts! It has been full of fun and learning times and even some work in an office for a couple of weeks. So what I have been doing? I had a few days at Yamba with family which was wonderful and then back to Toowoomba to attend a workshop meeting with Darling Downs South West Regional Development Australia in Warwick, then an event run by the Queensland Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for International Women's Day with 6 fabul...ous speakers including Jess Fealy, Brigid Price and Georgie Somerset and others - all incredible 'movers and shakers' in the agricultural field in Queensland. To complete the week I attended a meeting of the Royal Flying Doctor Service auxiliaries in Brisbane at the RFDS Base which was fantastic and included seeing some of their training facilities and inside one of their aircraft. I have also attended events run by the Toowoomba of Commerce and and attended a Climate Change Conference in Stanthorpe put on by Farmers for Climate Change Action. And to make life even better there has been some wonderful rain in some areas, let's pray for rain in areas where there hasn't been any and follow-up where there has been. See more

13.01.2022 I have been doing some reading and watching / listening to a webinar this afternoon and thought this could be of relevance to a number of businesses.

12.01.2022 How are you at setting and achieving your goals - do they 'press the button' to make you get out and achieve them, both long ans short term. Be sure to keep them updated and change them if you need to. I would love to know how you set and achieve your goals!

12.01.2022 For the next few weeks, as the financial year comes to an end I will be posting some tips to assist you in making sure your business is 'ready for success'. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy the research!

12.01.2022 Having a wonderful time at the National NRM Knowledge Conference in Wodonga. Through the Regen in Action business I presented a 10 minute paper with Margie Milgate on 'Creating Resilience through Regenerative Agriculture' and have lots of great conversations since yesterday morning. Some great panel discussions on 'Change Agents and Indigenous' landscapes and increasing resilience through caring for our land.

07.01.2022 'REGEN IN ACTION: I am adding another area to my business. After much discussion, research and planning Margie Milgate and I are announcing that we are working together on a project 'Regen in Action' - shortened from 'Regeneration' - (too hard to say multiple times). This a a passion that we both hold dear! We will be working along the many well known and knowledgeable people who are looking to improve our current state of the environment and introducing them to those that a...re curious and wanting to know more. We see no bounds in this as it covers so many areas of our life. However, we will be starting in the agricultural sector especially soils, however we also be looking at how to recycle fabrics and fashion. We will be starting with a monthly email with lots of information and will look for additional information if you are interested We will be putting together workshops and proving practical resources for that want more! and looking to get 'The Soil Story' into schools. Looking forward to hearing from you and working with you! See more

03.01.2022 Always good to remember on a day that hasn't gone to plan, if we give up there is nothing, however if we keep on keeping on there will be great days when you wonder what the problem was

03.01.2022 Had a great day yesterday at the Investing in Ag Industry forum in Toowoomba. Guest speakers included Sarah Nolet from Tenacious Ventures (tech) Sam Marwood Cultivate Farms and Odonata (alternative ways of getting young farmers with their own land and biodiversity on farms), Adam Keen Suncorp Bank and Monica Bradley Purposeful Capital (funding women), all with new and traditional ways of funding the family farm. Thanks to TSBE and other sponsors for a great initiative. Take away from the day - there is plenty of money out there for investment in agriculture.

01.01.2022 Something to keep in mind - reflect, re-evaluate and start moving forward, then act, otherwise it might be too late
