25.01.2022 Well 6 weeks ago we had to go back into stage 3 lockdown and at the time it was thought that we'd be reopening this week. Sadly we're still in lockdown and not able to open. You might have noticed that I have had a break from social media but I felt that I needed to take time to breathe and to focus on finding some positivity when things really felt quite surreal. Even though I had a break from social media I have still been busy with clients and I'm so proud of those client...s who have embraced our zoom sessions as it was something so alien to them. It means they have still kept active and working on their goals and importantly they have stayed in touch with their training buddies. The sense of community is really important when stuck at home as it helps hugely with managing these crazy times. For me when I'm not with clients I'm staying on track with walking each day and regularly working on my mobility and strength. Plus I've taken up knitting again already finishing a jumper and now onto a new project making a blanket. Let's hope it won't be too much longer until we can get back to training together again in the studio. Reach out though if you'd like to join us on zoom.

24.01.2022 Nuts are one of my favourite snacks. They are both delicious and satisfying. I always recommend nuts as a snack to my clients because they have so many healthy benefits. ... Firstly they are a great plant based source of protein and as we age our protein requirements increase to help preserve our muscle. Nuts are high in healthy fats and low in saturated fats which makes them good for our heart health and they can also help to lower your cholesterol too. They are high in fibre so great for helping with your gut health and keeping you regular. Importantly nuts are anti-inflammatory and can assist with joint health. So why not include a small handful of nuts each day as a healthy and nutritious snack. See more

23.01.2022 We had our first day back. Things look different as our semi-private PT sessions as they are even smaller with a maximum of 3 people per session. Everyone has there own special workout space, equipment and program. Our goal is to keep everyone feeling totally safe at sessions and a very personalised workout. ... It certainly was nice to see some of my amazing clients once again. @ Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia See more

23.01.2022 As Christmas is here, I want to take the chance to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. 2020 has certainly thrown us some challenges but I do hope that these challenges have allowed you to take stock of what's really important to you and used this to move forward as we head towards 2021. For me this year, I have learnt that it is okay to take time out and actually just sit and do nothing. I was one that always had to be busy and on the go. Being still for me was somethi...ng that I just wasn't comfortable with. It also really made me realise that the health and wellbeing of both myself and those I hold dear to me is just so very important. I am truly grateful to those people who supported me and my business this year. There was a small group of ladies that soldiered on with their training for the entire year and I am so proud of them for remaining dedicated to becoming the very best version of themselves. I do hope that you get to have a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas and that 2021 is a healthy and happy year for you. I am taking a break and will return to the studio on January 18th. Take care and stay safe, Libby x

23.01.2022 Here's hoping we can be back on 22nd June. Only 3 weeks to go.

22.01.2022 I used to get really frustrated because I can't do what I used to do in the gym. I constantly compared myself to when I was younger and stronger. I recognised that comparing myself to the younger me was not helping me at all so I revisited the why I exercised and found that now exercise was about helping my body and mind feel good not how many chinups or pushups I could do or my overall physique.... So now I focus on movements and workouts that keep me both mentally and physically feeling great. It's about creating a me that can enjoy getting out and doing things I love without pain or fear of injury. Focus on where you are now and the movements and workouts that feel right for you now so that you can work on enjoying life and doing the things you love.

21.01.2022 We have been back in the studio for nearly two weeks and it's been so lovely to see everyone back at sessions. It has also been fabulous to find that our virtual PT was such a hit that a few clients have decided to keep doing their zoom sessions. I have only a few spaces left so if you are interested in getting moving again please DM me to make a time to chat about getting started.

21.01.2022 It's scary to think that 30% of people over 65 have at least 1 fall each year. According to RACGP 125,021 people aged over 65 were hospitalised due to falls in 2016-17 which attributed to 3/4 of all hospitalisations for this age group. It really does highlight why we have to work on getting and staying strong as well as focusing on improving our balance now to help prevent us from falling in the future as we age. ... See more

20.01.2022 A perfect night for an outdoor session. This was these ladies first face to face session back after lockdown and they both blitzed it. Well done Sue & Danielle.

19.01.2022 Our doors are closing once again but we are still here to help you stay on track with your health and fitness. We have something for everyone, whether it be joining us for a workout on Zoom, having a special at home program or enjoying some quick 10 minute workouts with our Fit, Fab 50 online program. Most importantly please stay positive and keep moving as much as you can. ... Please reach out if you need a helping hand with staying on track over the next 6 weeks.

19.01.2022 Finally the news that we have waited so long for. We can open our studio doors again on Monday 9th November. Our online bookings are now open for our existing members. If you haven't joined us before and would like to find out about how we can help you to shake off that feeling of lethargy and begin to feel energised again please reach out to me. ... Our studio has the very best Covid safe plan to keep everyone feeling totally safe during every session. Again I am super excited to be able to see my clients again

18.01.2022 These are delicious and just so quick to make. Perfect for grown ups too.

17.01.2022 We can't use the studio but we're so lucky to have some great outdoor areas nearby to use instead. For the next 2 weeks I'm offering both private PT sessions or sessions shared with 2 people. From November I'll be offering semi-private PT sessions with up to 5 people. We are allowed 10 people but I want to keep our sessions small so I can offer a very individualized and personal experience. ... Bookings open Monday next week for our semi-private PT sessions. For individual PT sessions please message me to book. Can't wait to see you all.

15.01.2022 I have really wanted to use my time to learn more while in iso. Today I finished my Functional Ageing Specialist Certification. This course focuses on how to train the body to improve how we move in everyday life. I have already started using some of what I have learnt with my clients who I work with virtually and can't wait to be able to implement this into our face to face sessions when we reopen in a few weeks. ... I know this is going to allow me to provide the very best and most up to date programs for my ladies so they can build stronger more capable bodies and be able to enjoy do the things they love. 13.01.2022 I keep hearing how once you are in your 50s that you can't really improve your strength and that everything just goes down hill after 50. It might feel that way for some women as they find that their bodies are feeling stiff and sore.... Getting up and down off the floor is hard. Walking up a hill or flight of stairs is exhausting. I'm here to tell you that you don't have to just give up and accept a stiff achy body that feels weak. You CAN improve how you feel. You CAN get stronger and you CAN work on improving how your body moves. Being over 50 doesn't mean you have to just accept not being able to do the things you love. The key is to look at getting older in a positive way and to focus on moving more each day because our bodies are meant to move. As well as just moving more start to work on building stronger muscles by doing some strength type exercises. It's important to build up what you do gradually and enjoy the experience rather than overdoing it and getting hurt. I absolutely love helping women get back into a strength and fitness program. I find that if we get the basics right and focus on targeting the program to suit your body and where it's at we can get you back to feeling less stiff and sore as well as feeling stronger. Before you know it you will feel more confident with your body and how it moves and be able to get out and enjoy living life. We are reopening on the 22nd June and have a range of programs designed for ladies over 50 to help you move better, get stronger and improve your balance and mobility. Reach out if you are ready to join a team of awesome ladies in their 50s and beyond.

12.01.2022 Do you get out of bed somedays and find that it takes ages for your joints to loosen up? Or maybe you've spent a day in the garden and you go to stand up and everything has seized up. For some women arthritis can mean that their joints are often rather stiff and achy which impacts on their overall mobility. ... I have put together a few of my favourite mobility moves that I use to help me feel less stiff and more mobile, you can access these mobility moves here ==>www.libbysfitness.com.au See more

10.01.2022 Do you love getting out in the garden but find that these days you struggle to kneel down and get back up again as you have lost mobility in your hips, knees and ankles plus your leg muscles feel weak and just don't allow you to move like you used to. If this sounds like you I have a brand new program that's starting in July. It's called "Up Down, Easy." This program is limited to 6 women who are really wanting to improve their strength and mobility so that they can get up and down off the floor easily. If you would like to find out more send me a DM to organise a time to chat.

09.01.2022 Today I have made the most of this amazing weather. First this morning I enjoyed a training session with Les and Jenni. This afternoon Melinda and I walked along the beach track at Mornington then I came home and relaxed outside with a book. What have you done to enjoy this magical day?

08.01.2022 Getting up and down off the ground can be a real challenge for many women for a range of reasons. It can be due to arthritic joints, a stiff and sore lower back or even just a lack of strength. I know for me I love being able to get down on the ground to play with my granddaughters and would hate to not be able to join in the fun and games on the floor. ... That's one of the reasons I have developed my "Up Down Easy" program as I really want to be able to help other women become stronger and more mobile so getting is and down is easy not a struggle so that they can enjoy playing with their grandkids too. DM me if you want to be able to get up and down easily. See more

06.01.2022 One thing that I noticed during our lockdown was how many more people were out walking each day. To me this was one great thing that Covid did for us. Walking is so beneficial for us but strength training is also really beneficial for us too. Here's why I aim to get 2 or 3 strength workouts in each week. ... It helps keep my bones strong. It helps me retain the muscle strength to be able to keep doing the things I love. It helps me keep strong which inturn helps me manage joint pain and injuries. It helps with my balance and hopefully will help prevent me having a fall. It helps me to keep my mind sharp and certainly helps my mood. It just makes me feel great and stops me from feeling like I'm getting old. One thing though, I know that I'm not able to train like I did even just a couple of years ago but that doesn't matter as I know I'm doing my very best. This is what's important not trying to be a younger stronger, leaner me.

06.01.2022 After staying home for so long because of our lockdown it is quite daunting to start going out and being around others. I am putting special steps in place to make sure that my clients can safely return to our little studio and know that they will be safe. Everything thing will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised after every session.... Hand sanitiser will be available and all clients on arrival will be asked to sanitise their hands. Our semi-private PT session numbers are being capped at 3 people each session. There will be no sharing of equipment and each client will be given more than 4 square metres of space and asked to bring their own towel and full drink bottle. All clients will be required to stay home if they are feeling unwell plus of course if they have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive. If you are still nervous about returning to sessions when we reopen on the 22nd June please reach out to me. Remember #gymsaresafe and #exerciseismedicine

04.01.2022 A little about me. I thought that I might share a little about me for those of you who are relatively new to my page. I have been in the Fitness Industry for 12 years and prior to this I was a preschool teacher. ... I have loved being active since way back when I joined a gym at 18. From that first day at the gym I have loved strength training and feeling strong. Now at 62 strength training has become all about creating a strong body that will help me keep on leading an active life. I have found as I have aged I have been faced with back, shoulder and knee pain. I have learnt to really appreciate and listen to my body rather than going by the attitude of just keep on going when something doesn't feel right. Something I never did when I was younger as I thought that I could just push on. I realise now this was not a clever thing to do! I think that because of my injuries it has really helped me to be a better trainer as I understand my clients who live with chronic pain and am well equipped to assist them to exercise safely. Plus I have really worked on increasing my knowledge around how to train clients who have chronic injuries as well as best practice for working with the more mature population by completing heaps of extra study. This is why I now only work with older women because I understand how they feel and really want to help them improve their strength, mobility and balance so that they can get and stay strong and active well into their senior years.

02.01.2022 Stop focusing on trying to be perfect and just aim to be little bit better than yesterday. Trying to be perfect is really setting ourselves up to feel like we are never doing enough. So just focus on working on making each day that little bit better than yesterday. ... This way you are still moving forward and will feel in control and proud of your achievements.

01.01.2022 Just on 3 months ago we suddenly were forced to close the doors to our beautiful little studio and I finally on Monday we are able to open back up. After the initial shock of having to close and feeling both angry, sad, overwhelmed and quite scared of what was happening I decided that to get through this pandemic I had to stay positive and make use of my spare time. I really stepped outside of my comfort zone and started running virtual sessions and actually found tha...t virtual training is a great option for those who want to train at home. So virtual sessions are now here to stay for those who prefer to train at home and want to have a program that is designed just for them. Outside of my virtual sessions I got stuck into lots of learning by attending the Healthy Ageing Summit, from this I then enrolled and completed the Functional Ageing Specialist course. These both gave me so much new knowledge and really reinforced the importance of exercise for those of us who are aged 50+. I also did the Female Health and Performance course which focuses on training women throughout all stages of their lifespan and wow did I wish I had known what I learnt earlier in life and I took away lots of info to help me with my peri and post menopausal clients. The last few weeks have been spent getting the studio ready for clients this coming Monday and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again. The studio is sparkly clean and ready to open once again on Monday
