20.01.2022 I've learnt a lot about our community since taking over the Aireys Inlet Market a few years ago. I've learnt how important it is to curate a welcome community space, where locals, part-time residents and visitors can come together and connect. I've learnt how important our local markets are to support the hundreds of 'micro' businesses operating from home in our community ... the makers and growers who work so hard, often in isolation, to share with us their creative handmad...e and homegrown arts, crafts and food. I've learnt how the market can enhance the local visitor economy by 'adding value' to the experience tourists have in our region. Through our licensing negotiations for the market, I've learnt how challenging it can be for members of the community to navigate the complexities of dealing with local council. These learnings are all part of the experience that help to make me your ideal local representative. 14.01.2022 Sustainable House Day 2020 continues today for our region with virtual house tours providing insight into how people can make the transition to housing that is cheaper to run, more comfortable to live in and a lower carbon footprint. It’s a great time to ask ourselves what kind of housing do we want in the Anglesea Ward and the wider Surf Coast Shire in future decades? Out on the campaign trail, more and more people are raising concerns with me about the changing character o...f our towns. Do we want cliff-tops lined with McMansions or low-key dwellings in a bush environment? Or both? What kind of density do we need to cater for a diverse and growing population? What innovative solutions are out there to help us all live more sustainably? Are Tiny Houses something we should explore as an option for the Surf Coast? These are all questions I’d like to explore further so we can plan for the kind of landscape we’d like our kids and grandkids and future generations to enjoy for many years to come. And check out the link below for today’s sessions from 11am on how to make your home more sustainable right now. #vote1libbystapleton #angleseaward #surfcoastshire #councilelections2020 See more

08.01.2022 And that’s a wrap. Spent the afternoon taking down campaign signs. Thanks to all the local businesses and residents who kindly allowed me to put my big face on their fence, wall or window! And thanks to the many who took time to talk and offer words of encouragement throughout the campaign. It’s been a positive journey ... regardless of the outcome (which we’ll hopefully know about after Cup weekend). Watch this space ... #angleseaward #surfcoastshire #councilelections2020
08.01.2022 Enjoyed more campaigning on the street today, chatting with locals in Anglesea and Aireys. As we approach the campaign finish line, I’m still finding lots of people happy to chat about what’s important to them and the way we live in our community. Eden remains a hot topic, along with protecting environment, sustainable housing/living and creating a more helpful council culture. These are all issues I’d like the opportunity to address as your local Councillor. Don’t forget to get your ballot paper in this week. 07.01.2022 If you watch one show on Netflix this week, make it the David Attenborough documentary 'A Life on our Planet'. An amazing journey through the changes he's witnessed to the natural world in his lifetime ... and a positive vision for how we can act now to save our planet and our species. We all need to start thinking innovatively about the way we live and how to create a more sustainable future ... our economy, our health & wellbeing, our community, and our future lifestyle d...epend on a healthy environment. If I'm elected to Council, I will be advocating for more immediate and creative thinking and planning for ways we can create a better balance at a local level. It doesn't need to be economy "or" environment. It needs to be both. Vote 1 Libby Stapleton (before 6pm this FRI 23 OCT!) #vote1libbystapleton #angleseaward #surfcoastshire #councilelections2020 See more
