25.01.2022 Some great news for first home buyers buying/building NEW homes with the NSW Govt extending stamp duty relief thresholds from 1 August, but be quick it's only for a 12 month period. In summary: Vacant land: - $0 stamp duty threshold lifted from $350,000 to $400,000, saving over $7700 in stamp duty on a $400,000 land buy. ... - concessional stamp duty threshold raised to $500,000 New homes: - $0 stamp duty threshold lifted to $800,000 from 650,000, saving over $31,000 in stamp duty. - concessional threshold lifted to $1,000,000. Often initiatives where more money is made available to purchaser simply lifts prices so any savings are a bit illusory, but it is meant to keep up interest in building and buying new homes to keep activity in the construction sector bubbling along. In brief: - application deadline pushed out to 14 April 2021 - build contracts entered into after 31 December sees grant value drop to $15,000.
