23.01.2022 Frankly, this is the best part of our work. See you all tomorrow.
22.01.2022 Dr Elise has headed away for Christmas and we'll see her again in the New Year. Three cheers for this lovely soul, working tirelessly for the Liberty community. Thank you to clients, Emma and Pauline too, spoiling us with their beautiful organic honey.
21.01.2022 Four happy elves signing off after a busy morning. A special thank you to Lex and Louise for helping to serve the community today, allowing the rest of the front desk to share time with their families. Special thanks to Premiers Gladys and Dan for allowing Dr Oliver over the border for a chiropractic adjustment and Christmas!
21.01.2022 Early in the week a wonderful client, Kate dropped in a basket of popcorn. The day was hot and she wondered if a basket of organic carbs might give us all some energy. When Kate delivered the popcorn she demonstrated a prosocial act. Research reveals that prosociality is emotionally reinforcing and contagious, inspiring kindness and generating emotional wellbeing in others. Giving, getting and glimpsing prosocial behaviour is an unequivocally positive experience. With this i...n mind, Kate delivered much more than popcorn. Snacks are especially popular with gigantic 17 year old front desk workers; can you see how tightly Monte is clutching it? https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2Femo0000321
21.01.2022 Scientists have closely explored the incredible importance of omega-3 fatty acids. Here's some news about the ways these little wonders can help: Omega-3 fatty acids fight autoimmune diseases, including type one diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease and psoriasis. Also, promisingly, omega-3 supplements may prevent (and treat) depression and anxiety, and stave off pre-menstral tension. ... Additionally, getting enough omega-3s during pregnancy is crucial for a baby's development. Intake is linked to higher intelligence and may lower the likelihood of asthma. Supplements can reduce symptoms of ADHD in young people as well, improving attention and reducing hyperactivity, impulsiveness and aggression. All in all, omega-3 fatty acids are vital for optimal health and the best source are whole foods such as fatty fish, a robust source of omega-3. But if this doesn't tickle your fancy, supplements are a quick way of boosting supply. https://www.healthline.com/n/17-health-benefits-of-omega-3
12.01.2022 There's a mouse in the kitchen. Chris leaves his shopping within arms reach, over and over. It's very hard for hungry team members!
09.01.2022 Hiring is always bitter sweet; it's hard to say goodbye but exciting to welcome someone new. Resumés are arriving and interview invitations will start soon. 08.01.2022 Our Christmas and New Year hours stay the same, with the exception of the public holidays. They'll be pinned to the door so there's no confusion. Happy holidays everyone. See you on Tuesday.
07.01.2022 Thank you for supporting the Gisborne Food Bank again this year. You've been dropping in pantry items all month, expressing generosity to others at the busiest time of the year. As you know, all new client fees for December will be given to the service too - the final figure will be tallied at the end of the month. Added to this, some of you have delivered treats for us as well. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
02.01.2022 On Sunday we had a little BBQ with guests, craving something simple because the weather was hot, hot, hot. We whipped up a broccoli salad and added these baked sweet potato wedges to the table, following a recipe from Carla Oates, The Beauty Chef. They were fabulous and easy-peasy, our favourite kind of food. Sweet potato is full of fibre and vitamin A, keeping our scalp healthy and skin free from breakouts. ... https://thebeautychef.com//sweet-potato-wedges-with-almond
