24.01.2022 So let’s keep it up... wishing everyone well - we will get through this

22.01.2022 Hello all- on a snowy morning! It makes me think it’s like life- beautiful, and treacherous underfoot at the same time. Seeing the awkward, slippery bits where we have to look ahead and take care can cause us to forget to stop and look at how beautiful it is also. And vice versa. We need to stop sometimes and take a rain(snow)check on what we keep the most focused on as both are important but it’s easier to get captivated by the possibility of what can be, and sometimes already is, a risk to us. I wish you a happy day - and keep an eye out for both possibilities

22.01.2022 Post pandemic re-set Being curious We are currently in a unique position to re-set the way we live our lives even as the losses (family and friends, health, jobs, income) for some have been profound. Whatever has happened personally we can now take the opportunity to update our perspective. Now is the time to take stock - and that begins with becoming curious about what we are currently doing. It involves asking yourself a lot of questions and not knowing the answers... yet. It’s about being inquisitive what are you currently enjoying - what have you (re)started doing? Where are you effortlessly putting your energy? What inspires you? What makes you laugh and what are you instinctively drawn to? Use these as indicators of what truly is you, of what truly makes your heart sing and feeds your soul. These aspects of yourself are what really matter. There are some daily routines which definitely benefit us good nutrition, activity/exercise, keeping in touch with others. But we need to also make room for what nurtures us and asking yourself the questions above can help you identify these. So get curious about your life. Don’t worry about the way forward just yet, identify and focus on what’s important to you until a pathway emerges. For re-emerging is a process which takes time and patience and the way forward isn’t always clear sometimes it just evolves but if we’re not attentive, we can miss the opportunities. For now, just be curious.

21.01.2022 Looking after ourselves - keep it simple, do it often, and keep in touch with each other.

21.01.2022 Post pandemic re-set Now is the time to start thinking and planning for our lives as restrictions are lifted because there will come a time when we can see further and more clearly than we do now. It’s time to think about life post-pandemic because we do have a choice in how we live our lives then. Although we can’t make many choices now about where/when/how/what we can do, as restrictions lift we will have more and more choices and we need to be ready for them. Otherwise w...e just re-plant ourselves in our previous life and daily routine. Whilst some might say, Can’t wait for that!, many of us have taken the opportunity (though enforced) to reflect on what matters to us and what we want to be different. So in order to shape our future we need to become aware of what matters to us, what makes our hearts sing and what we have discovered about ourselves and others during this time of enforced self-isolation. Future posts are going to focus on this and because people are online so much, I’m going to limit posts to no more than 250 words (that will keep me succinct!), and accompany the post with a meaningful picture (to give us a visual break). I hope you hang in there and read them and that you find something useful for yourself and those you care about as we set about shaping our future.

21.01.2022 Re-entry can feel confusing As we hear about re-entry and easing restrictions, we may notice conflicting feelings. We feel relieved and even excited on the one hand but also feel anxious and unsure at the same time. It feels odd to feel two things at once but that’s often what happens. On one hand, we have the future and we’re uncertain about how it will look and how we will navigate it. This is especially true if we have found being at home less stressful than being sociall...y interactive. On the other hand we are relieved and comforted to get back to doing some familiar things we enjoy, with family and friends. It’s different for each of us so be patient with yourself and take slow, small steps until you get your footing. It’s going to be a lengthy process as we re-enter. There’s no certainty about how it will look or how long it will take, and we may well have to take some steps back and then go forward again. That takes patience and a clear perspective on what matters to each of us. If we want the future to be clearer and stronger, we need to take what we have learnt about ourselves with us as we step into the re-entry. It may be as simple as having learnt that you coped better than you thought you would, or you may have realised something more about what matters most to you. Hang onto this knowledge and bring it with you. This will benefit not only you, but those around you.

18.01.2022 I love this image because I see people grow through sometimes the most difficult circumstances. They just keep on going, sometimes a moment at a time...so that even on a worst day, we’re still standing, even though it can feel too hard. Keep going...

18.01.2022 Easy-to-read info that provides some really clear pointers when someone is hurting. Please share...

18.01.2022 This is a really simple idea- they’re the best and they work. So here’s one to try:

16.01.2022 A common-sense perspective for emotional self-care amongst all the hype. SHARE to those who will benefit from the info

15.01.2022 Having accurate information is one of the keys to managing anxiety around COVID-19 so I’m going to post some - you probably already aware of this info, but anxiety feeds on brain niggles and what if’s - so let’s nip them in the bud when we can

14.01.2022 It’s a good time now to ask for support, and also to give it by helping out neighbours- even if you don’t really know them. We can dissolve some of the isolation we feel in our community if we all pull together and think of each other. It feels better if we know we’re in it together

13.01.2022 UPDATE - from today, EVERYONE is now entitled to Telehealth sessions from psychologists. This can be either by phone/mobile OR using video also (I use Facetime/Skype). You can use the referral you already have from your GP or ring your GP surgery to discuss getting one. You will be bulk- billed (so no out-of- pocket expenses) which makes it affordable. Unless you have a specific reason to see your health professional in person (GP, Psychologist, allied health provider etc.), ...this is the best course of action so we can limit the spread of COVID-19. Ring/text me if you want more info (0437 917 157) - or ring your health professional. Let others know- and if you hear of someone doing it tough, this info might be helpful to them too. STAY WELL

13.01.2022 Have kids around?? try some of these sites - I enjoyed trying some of them out too - there’s a big kid in all of us Keep your day ticking along with some structure and time for things you enjoy too. And reach out to others to connect- it’s important to keep things in perspective. Happy day

11.01.2022 Useful tips - especially if you need to self-isolate. Just announced - you may also be eligible for Medicare-funded Telehealth sessions from a psychologist/social worker if you can’t leave home because you have to self-isolate, or your immune system is compromised due to chronic medical conditions - ask your GP.

08.01.2022 We can never know how much our stories mean to others- and how much the words of others mean to us. They can stay with us forever and keep inspiring us- so share your story even if you think it’s a small thing. Stories matter so much...and always have

06.01.2022 Having a refreshing sleep is elusive for many- how we prepare for sleep is crucial. Share if useful
