15.01.2022 Throwback to the first ever Floriade! First celebrated in 1988, it was part of Canberra's 75th anniversary as well as Australia's Bicentenary celebrations. Since then, it has grown to become Canberra's biggest annual event. Did you know it was ACT Parks and Conservation Service who planned and built the first displays, along with the manager of Commonwealth Park? Local artists and performers joined in and Floriade, as we know it today, was born! Do you have any memories of that first Floriade? A favourite artwork, performance or family connection? Something to reflect on while we celebrate #FloriadeReimagined. Find yourself in the #ACTHeritageLibrary https://www.library.act.gov.au/find/history/library.
