23.01.2022 Good evening parents, Unfortunately, we have some more hotspots for COVID-19 that we need to avoid or if we were there, we need to get tested ASAP. Channel 7 news reported today confirmed COVID-19 cases at Westfields Parramatta and the shopping centre at Rhodes. (See attached pictures). The advice from NSW Health is that for anyone who was at Westfields Parramatta between from 4- 5pm on Wednesday 5 August and between 12-1:00pm on Saturday 8 August to get tested asap and mo...nitor symptoms up to and including Friday 21 August. Also, anyone that was at Rhodes Shopping Centre, particularity IKEA, between 1:20-2:20pm on Saturday 8 August to get tested asap and monitor symptoms up to and including Friday 21 August If you were at these venues during these times, PLEASE dont send you kids to school and get everyone in your household tested !!! You and your children will need to stay home too until a negative result for COVID-19 has been texted to you. Let our school know asap if this has affected you. It is crucial that we are open and honest about this, that we all remain COVID free and adhere to all the guidelines provided for us by NSW Health to ensure we stop the spread. COVID-19 is real, and needs us all to be very vigilant and safe. Thanks for your support and co-operation. #staysafe #stayathome #schoolissafe

22.01.2022 Due to the rain PSSA is cancelled today.

22.01.2022 Almost 2 weeks ago students in Stage 2 and 3 who were planning on going to camp this year were given a note about whether they were still interested in going due to the current circumstances. This note was to help us here at school make a decision about whether to continue moving forward with these camps should they be allowed to go ahead next term. Whatever decision you make can be changed but we do need to have a definite idea. If you have not returned this note please do so tomorrow.

21.01.2022 Communications will be coming soon. Just awaiting approval. Mr Lewis

19.01.2022 Hi everyone, Just a quick note to let you all know that Lidcombe RSL are hosting a Remembrance Day ceremony starting at 10:45am on Sunday 8 November. School Captain Lily and Vice Captain George will be presenting a short speech, so it would be great to see lots of Lidcombe PS people, not only to support Lily and George, but to recognise the importance of this ceremony regards our proud nation’s history.

19.01.2022 Hi everyone, The eSafety Commissioner has made us aware of distressing reports about a video of a suicide circulating social media platforms. eSafety has contacted social media companies about the reports and will continue working with them to monitor the situation. Please refer to the advice below.... We are encouraging people who encounter this content to report it to the social media platform theyve seen it on, or to eSafety at www.esafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content. I did not want to draw any undue attention to the issue as it may cause unnecessary worry or distress and increase exposure, but after seeing the coverage on last nights news channels, I felt as though I needed to act, hence this Facebook post and also, I have had a chat with all Stage 3 classes about it as well. We advise that you should monitor your children in their use of the internet, social media or YouTube, checking in with them about their interactions on and offline. If this video pops up, copy the address and report the video to the platform being used or to the e-safety site. If a young person is presenting with signs of distress, we will follow our procedures for managing and supporting students at risk at school but you can also ensure they are safe by taking a break from the internet and doing something physical, or be available to talk about issues as they arise. Certainly, the are the most appropriate actions to take if someone is at risk are: If a life is in danger call Triple Zero (000) right now. Please encourage your children who may be experiencing emotional distress, including worried family and friends, to contact one of the following services: Kids Helpline. 1800 55 1800. Phone support is there all day, every day. Online support is open from 8am-midnight every day (AEST). Suicide Callback Service. 1300 659 467. Phone support all day, every day, and follow-up calls. eHeadspace. 1800 650 890. Open 9am-1am daily (AEST). Lifeline. 13 11 14. Phone support all day, every day. Online support 7pm-4am daily (AEST). Beyondblue. 1300 22 4636. Phone support all day, every day. Online support 3pm-midnight every day. Another distressing situation, but if we work together in this, our children will be better placed to deal with these issues with resilience. As always, I thank you for your support in these matters. Mr. Lewis

18.01.2022 Just a reminder that the SRC One Stop Shop is open again this morning in front of the library - bring your money along.

17.01.2022 **WARNING - This QR Code doesnt actually contain anything !! As you all know, all classes will be completing tasks as they would normally do during any school week for Education Week. The difference will be that once these tasks are completed this week, they will be uploaded to SeeSaw and Google Classrooms. The students will bring home the QR code(s) for these activities, where you simply take a picture of it with your phone, the activities will download and you will be... able to see the work your child(ren) have completed. Kindergarten will complete activities in Maths (picture graph), Science (day and night), have a Dance2bfit video and some footage of the 100 days of Kindergarten celebration. They will also bring home a writing sample. Stage 1 will complete activities about My favourite learning centre (a photo and audio recording), a mathematics task (photo of work sample, written work, mini whiteboard recording of multiplication and division), Science work on MiniBeasts and a photo of completed artwork for Visual Arts. Stage 2 students will send home a QR code that will link to a digital portfolio of their childs work. This will include work samples in English, Maths, Geography, an activity from Learning Centres and Creative Arts. Stage 3 students will send home a QR code that will link to a digital portfolio of their childs work. This will include work samples of English, Maths, Geography and Science. SEU QR codes for samples of the Life skills program (cooking in our new kitchen / using the canteen), a work sample from our geography unit on Vietnam or Mini Beasts, a TENs work sample (photograph/ video students engaging in hands on mathematics activity), a Research Hub activity (designing little street library / K/6E will have some footage of Dance2bfit). These should be available tomorrow even though I know most parents have received a writing sample of some sort throughout the week. Lets keep our fingers crossed that it all works and hopefully, you enjoy what you see !! See more

02.01.2022 The Fathers Day Stall was a great success last week, so much so that we pretty much ran out of gifts with two Year 5 classes still to go. If your child was in one those classes and had prepaid and didnt get a gift or wanted to buy and wasnt able to, we will have some more gifts to choose from tomorrow just before Break 1 out the back of the office. If there are gifts left after this, any other students who may still want to buy will have the opportunity to do so after eating time. Children should listen for announcements.
