13.01.2022 Pretty chuffed to be shortlisted in the @birdlifeoz Photography Awards with this pic! I like this photo, its one of my favourites and was just happy that other people liked it too. Though, its not always about what other people think of the photo you take or the image you create. If it holds a meaning to you or tells a nice little story that might only resonate with you or a few others, then do you need any more than that ?

11.01.2022 Its Christmas time! And it looks like this Satin Bowerbird has found its very own Christmas tree! Except it hasn't really. Its in a type of Puya, a brommeliad from Chile. A gorgeous plant in full bloom. I don't usually like taking photos of birds in non-native Australian plants because I don't like seeing our native species thriving in our man-made, altered world. But Ill make an exception for this beauty. Non-native plants can be quite destructive in their non-natural environments, but in some cases, they can provide crucial habitat and the building blocks for the survival of particular species. A balancing act to consider for sure. #satinbowerbird _Ptilonorhynchus violaceus_

09.01.2022 Kunzea capitata . Found in damp soils in sunny heathland in NSW.

08.01.2022 A reasonably unremarkable looking bird, but with a sweet song. This Brown Honeyeater was undaunted, defending this Callistemon bush from the other hungry birds in the area. They're nomadic nectar eaters, meaning they find a flowering trees and shrubs, feed on it til it finishes flowering, then move on to find something else thats in flower. 05.01.2022 What a beautiful bird! A male Scarlet Honeyeater a shot I'd had in my mind but never thought I would be lucky enough to get. The Scarlet Honeyeater is found up and down the length of the east coast. In the north, they are sedentary, but in the south they seasonally migrate, on the move following the flowering plants. This is another example of the importance of having a diversity of ecosystems present in amongst a larger area. Without the diversity, how would birds like thi...s survive ? The destruction of small habitats types can have a drastic effect in so many different ways. _Myzomela sanguinolenta_ #scarlethoneyeater . . .
