25.01.2022 Light at the end of the tunnel... Its been an intense two weeks and there was a lot to take in and process personally and on a global level. It didnt feel like a time to share so much as a time to listen, feel and reflect. However, Caroline Myss posted the following in a video message, talking about the protests in the US and people speaking truth to power: Life is about all life benefitting all life. Keep your eye on the light, stay on the river of light... You think now ...about all the good you can do. This is no time to ever again think about yourself as helpless. When you look in this moment of chaos, you start empowering yourself in the smallest degree. Every act of kindness, every act of goodness, now matters more than you ever thought it mattered before. You turn yourself into an active agent of change, because now it matters. Caroline Myss Thank you for being here and reading this post! May all beings be happy and free - Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavantu Thank you, I love you, Sandra

24.01.2022 This is a great article by neuroscientist Dr. Sarah McKay explaining why it's so hard for us to deal with uncertainty. Our brains are wired to predict the future and make sense of the world: "Human brains act as prediction machines. Your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are based on your brains moment-by-moment best guess whats about to happen next. When day-to-day life becomes unpredictable, the brain creates stories to fill the information gap." (Dr. Sarah McKay) This... explains a lot and maybe this is why many people turn to conspiracy theories? 24.01.2022 Unlike other exercise programs, restorative poses place minimal metabolic demand on you. They add to your energy rather than subtract from it. During these periods of deep relaxation, you will be healed and nurtured from within. (Judith Hanson Lasater) Deep rest! In restorative yoga we support the body to be in the deeply relaxing poses restoring balance and wellbeing. It allows the nervous system to slow down and activates the para-sympathetic mode. The body is effortlessl...y tapping into a state of deep relaxation, digestion and healing. Booking link below to my online class tonight at 7pm (Sydney time=9am European) if you need some pre-Christmas rest. Love, Sandra xx

23.01.2022 I love this quote! Meditation is not a self-help tool. Its a practice of self-love that takes time, patience and being kind to yourself. With time we will experience the benefits and develop more compassion towards ourselves and others. Join me for my next 5-week ONLINE meditation intensive course starting in October DM me to get a 10% discount ... https://lifebalanceproject.as.me/5-week-meditation-intensive

21.01.2022 I made a thing... Are you working on a project that you are really excited about? Please share in the comments, I love getting inspired! How good does it feel to finish a project? But heres the thing: Im often struggling to finish something and staying on track. Our brains are wired to novelty and taking in new information all the time. My brain is like a puppy dog ... I get easily distracted by the next new shiny thing that looks fun. ... I get super excited when Im starting something new my mind is often overflowing with ideas and inspiration and to balance this Im trying to finish little projects and celebrate every little success. One example: I started to knit this scarf 3 years ago and last week I started it again from scratch and finished it! Just in time for the last cold mornings in Sydney. Taking small steps counts - well get there in the end and while it feels good to finish a project, Id like to finish with the words of Elizabeth Gilbert: You can measure your worth by your dedication to your path, not by your successes or failures (from The Big Magic) Happy Friday, lovelies! Yours, Sandra x

19.01.2022 Heres my Monday mindset manifesto: I will always love studying and learning. I always want to know why and understand the bigger picture. I dont take things at face value. I listen to other opinions and form my own. I believe in science-based evidence. I believe that we can change and grow through challenges. I believe that kindness is not a weakness. Just that, have a great Monday! I love you, Sandra xx

19.01.2022 India 2017 - I’m scrolling through my iPhone photos. Weird ... I never imagined myself not travelling. But here we are. While travelling is always fun and interesting, it’s also a bit ungrounding (the Ayurvedic doctor at the retreat actually said to me not to travel so much because it’s not balancing Vata constitution). I feel that this year was a big stock taking with deep learnings and growing. I noticed the resistance to change coming up many times and how we often feel stuck in situations that don’t really serve us but there is still a preference for the familiar to avoid uncertainty. For me it often takes a little push from the outside to change and grow. So to 2020: you’ve been a tough teacher but I’m willing to learn and grow and embrace what life is presenting. Take care, Sandra

09.01.2022 So, today ten years ago I landed in Sydney with three suitcases and I had no idea that I would still be here ten years later I feel very blessed to live on this land with its rich aboriginal culture, welcoming multi-cultural communities, the smell of the ocean, barista coffees & smashed avocado on toast I now live on Tharawal (Dharawal) land on a street called Murrawal which means ‘plenty’ and I’d like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land. Thank you fo...r having me Much love and gratitude, Sandra See more

07.01.2022 There are so many things that I cannot control in my life right now but what I can control in these unprecedented and uncertain times is how I relate to myself. This is why I love practicing and teaching restorative yoga. Its relaxation on a deep level and adapting the poses to the body rather than adapting the body to poses. Restorative yoga is about opening the body and finding comfort and ease in the poses. It allows us to just be or in the words of Judith Hanson Lasate...r: slowing down is the same thing as waking up Do yourself a favour and join me this week online via Zoom on Thursday 6pm and additional class on Friday at 5pm (German and English) for a 75min class booking via link below https://lifebalanceproject.as.me/Restorative

06.01.2022 How to do nothing? I dont know about you but I find it hard to resist the constant distraction of news and social media. Technically reading a book is not doing nothing of course but Im a big fan of paper books when taking a break from screen time. Its such a different experience to engage the senses: feel the texture of paper, the smell, the sound of turning the pages compared to reading online content on backlit devices. Ah, but speaking of online content...Ive got some big news coming your way later. Stay tuned and see you later, Im switching back to my books now. Lots of Love, Sandra xx

06.01.2022 Dear FB friends, Thank you so much for being here . I just thought Id share a bit of my story and what the Life Balance Project is all about... Finding balance feels more like holding everything together in these unprecedented times. ... . Everything is constantly changing and were dealing with daily uncertainties due to the global pandemic and all the rest that life throws at us . The photos of todays post are about 6 years apart. 2.5 years ago, I delved into a time of complete uncertainty leaving my full time corporate work behind after more than two decades!! . I started a new journey following my dreams, going on a personal health journey and focussing on teaching yoga & meditation for a living and sharing the practices and tools that helped me personally to deal with the ups and downs in life. . Im deeply grateful for everything that unfolded and every little step and everyone that supported me along the way . Stay tuned for the next post to find out more about what uncertainty does to our brains and what tools can help to navigate challenging times See more

06.01.2022 How to stay grounded in these unprecedented times? Is it just me or is it really hard to stay grounded and present while keeping up with the news about Covid19, politics, etc? It can feel overwhelming at times especially as our normal routines of being out in the world are disrupted due to the pandemic. In my practice I focus a lot on tools that help me to stay present: Gardening Focusing on the spine during meditation. ... Breathing up and down the spine. Using Mantra: So Ham - which means: I am. Focussing on the 1st chakra - muladhara/ root chakra. Practice grounding yoga poses: restorative yoga, tadasana/mountain pose, bridge pose & firmly planting my feet into the ground. Nourishing, warm foods. Getting enough sleep. Can you share your favourite grounding technique? Id love to hear from you Lots of love, Sandra xxx . . . . #lifebalanceproject #grounding #groundingtechniques #firstchakra #balance #yoga #meditation #mindfulness #lifeduringpandemic #beingpresent #dailypractice

05.01.2022 Happy autumn weekend!

05.01.2022 Good morning, I struggled to get here. Cycling up the hill is uncomfortable. In 2020, I noticed that I stepped out of my comfort zone in some ways but I was staying in my comfort zone in a lot of other areas: comfort food, comfort sofa, comfort exercise - pretty much the limits of my yoga mat. I noticed that staying in that zone meant that my comfort zone got smaller and smaller... I don’t know if you can relate? 2020, it’s a weird one. today, I’m just taking one small step with a short bike ride. Sending you love and keep going up the hill . It’s a nice view from up here. Sandra xx

05.01.2022 I hope you had a great break & good rest after the unprecedented and challenging year 2020! I know, you are probably getting lots of information about New Years' resolutions and how to keep them... I'd like to invite you to join me and do the exact opposite. For me, the New Year is always a time for reflection and counting my blessings - as a practice of gratitude ... Goals often give us the impression that we are lacking something and happiness is a future event once we reached a certain goal. That’s why I’m starting with counting my blessings rather than jumping straight into goals and resolutions. I ask myself HOW I want to feel this year and try to align my actions and decisions to that. So rather than setting a goal of meditating every morning, I set an intention to feel CALM. I start with the bigger picture and some habits will just flow from there. To start or stop habits is not easy at all. I like starting with the WHY and that keeps me motivated. This year I want to feel: *Calm *Strong *Connected How about you? Much love, Sandra

04.01.2022 Hi there, Im Sandra and Im the founder of the Life Balance Project. I teach yoga and meditation. When I was about 10 years old a book about yoga fell into my hands from my mums bookshelf. I was curious and secretly tried to copy the shapes that I saw in the book It took me another 2 decades to actually make it to my first yoga class. The most difficult pose of this first class?... Savasana - lying still for 15 minutes was really hard but I learned that often the things that we struggle with most are the things we need most. The physical practice connected me with my body and by that I mean sensations and feelings. It prepared me for a deeper path of meditation and breathing techniques (pranayama) from the early days which were the parts of the practice where I could feel the freedom, transformation and healing that yoga as a traditional system can bring - rather than just copying body postures. Thanks for all my great inspiring teachers that lead the way and my friends and family who helped me on this journey #lifebalanceproject #yoga

03.01.2022 Its true, cant help it. I mean who doesnt?
