24.01.2022 This week trainees learnt how to make Pineapple and Lemon Conserve, or the favourite Marmalade Jam. Preserving fruits that are in season is also an excellent and economical means to completing a meal for the family. They also learnt how to bottle the conserve so that it could be preserved up to a year. #usingtheavailableresources #makingthemostofseasonalfruits

06.01.2022 Saturday 20 March, 2021 witnessed the handing over of the first Shelter For Women to government, by Soroptomist International South West Pacific. The Sanctuary will be a Shelter for women survivors of domestic violence; a place for transit or a place of safety where the woman who has come through abuse and violence can find refuge while she figures out her next step away from abuse. A safe space to place her children, an opportunity to sleep and have access to a support netw...ork. The 6-year dream of Maria Doton, supported by Soroptomist International South West Pacific, Ministry of Women, various business houses and other NGOs has been realised through the construction of the Shelter at Natabua, Lautoka, complete with furniture, bedding, linen, curtains, kitchen appliances and more. It was also an emotional event as Human Rights Lawyer and Almanah Hope Centre International Ambassador, Sabrina Khan-Sharma shared parts of her journey through domestic violence and abuse and how important it is to support our domestic violence survivors by better understanding of the situations women face after leaving an abusive relationship. The healing process can take a lifetime, but there is Hope in God who has us in the palm of His Hand.
