On International Women's Day Dr Jordy Meekes, Life Course Centre Research Fellow at Melbourne Institute: Applied Economic & Social Research at the University of Melbourne, says work hours and commuting times provide clues. Women spend twice as much time on unpaid housework and childcare than men, which leaves less time for paid work and travelling to and from work.... Promoting flexible work and parental leave for men is a promising avenue for progress on closing gender gaps and shifting societal norms. 04.01.2022 An impressive cohort of Life Course Centre/Institute for Social Science Research PhD students attended The University of Queensland Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences graduation at St Lucia last week. It was great to see graduations back on UQ campus. Congratulations to everyone involved including those students who couldn’t make it along on the day.
