16.01.2022 Morning everyone. Hope your Sunday is treating you well. Just going over my goals this morning and thought i would share how i have changed my goal setting techniques to great effect. We have always been taught to set goals under the SMART structure for as many years as i can remember. SMART goals are logical and work great for business goals, however humans are emotional creatures and we need to attach that emotional element to make our goals truly align. A while ago i r...ead a book called " It Starts With Passion" It totally changed the way i think. Don't get me wrong. Goals still need to be SMART but get your head around this. Try totally inverting the current model. We are taught to set goals starting with what we want, followed by what we need to do and finally how we want to feel. I now start with how i want to feel, linked to my core values and Driving emotions, then what i want ( the goal) and finally what action i need to take. If you keep concentrating on what you want, you can still achieve goals but will struggle to keep going when those nasty roadblocks present themselves. I know what i want to feel, why i want to feel it, and what those feelings mean to me. I am now smashing goals, on autopilot and so much more motivated. Love to know your thoughts. 02.01.2022 WHY IS YOUR WHY SO IMPORTANT? Everyone is always telling us that our "why" is so important. And it's true, it really is. So often we get stuck in the "what". What we want to achieve , what we have to do, what is the next step? All our lives we get asked "what" questions.... What do you want to be when you grow up? What is your target this month? What are you doing that for? Lets start thinking about Why. Ultimately we need a why to keep going when things are tough. The what we are chasing isn't important enough. True goals that are aligned with your core values and driving emotions will always be a lot easier to achieve if you know why you are doing everything you do. Why you are willing to make sacrifices.
