25.01.2022 Construction of our new Solanaceae seed production polytunnel. Simple, practical, and cheap to build, we will be able to triple the number of chillies, eggplants, capsicums and tomato varieties this year. The 2inch Ag pipe slides over the star pickets perfectly, add your desired shade cloth, hail nets, frost nets or hothouse plastic.

24.01.2022 Black cumin seedlings. Great germination, direct-sown, Air temperatures as low as 2C. Average soil temperature 16C Frost tolerant, cool-season herb.

22.01.2022 Our eco-system took a real hit in the past few years, but things are on the rise and we are starting to see some diversity back in our gardens, so pleasing to see especially after the heartbreaking past few years of drought.

13.01.2022 Here is a sneak peek at what’s going on in our hot-house atm. In our cool climate and short growing season (120days) it’s essential we get a good 60days head start. For this to be possible all summer vegetables and flowers are germinated on our 8mx1.2m heat-mat in a mini hot-house inside a larger hot-house. When germinating seeds out of season night-time soil temperature is the biggest hurdle!

13.01.2022 Watermelon, Crimson Sweet, harvested and prepared ready for seed extraction. The seeds and pulp will be fermented for 3 days before being washed and dried. Despite being grown in the highlands during the coolest, wettest, summer in 10 years, this variety did really well, sweet and crisp. 12.01.2022 Here are the highlights from our Glass Gem Corn harvest 2021. This stunning corn is used for popcorn, cornflour, or polenta, it's what they call "flint corn". Our favorite crop to grow and harvest. It's Lifeforce Seeds 2nd generation, we carefully select cobs with certain characteristics for the next crop.... We have been unable to identify this bee that has been enjoying our crop of leek flowers. Actually, the leek crop, out of all the flowers in our garden has been attracting the most varieties of insects. Also pictured is one of the most strikingly beautiful beetles, The Fiddler beetle. Named after the fiddler shaped markings. Personally, I see an angel.

10.01.2022 Boris the Weed Yeti, made from all our weeds, some wood chips, and horse poo from some local stables. I think he has a fever, actually a bit too hot at 75c after just 36 hours. Safe to say all the weed seeds will be killed.

09.01.2022 Violas have been putting on a real show in the orchard for the past 2 months. Violas self-seed readily and when planted in mass they make a great understory ground cover. The edible flowers make a perfect garnish or a unique addition to salads. Seeds will be available on our web-site from 22/10/2020
