24.01.2022 Well, well... it's been a while between drinks No question that this year has been a doozy.... but how are you doing? Since we last spoke I lost my 'normal' job (bloody 'rona), raised $44k for bushfires using just a Facebook page and have started up a new little business to keep the wheels turning... So now that I've got a little breathing space I thought it was a pretty ripe time to get back on here and lend a hand...... How are YOU going? What's news with your business? Are you going full steam ahead, chugging along or totally in hibernation? Even though it's kinda depressing (here in Victoria, at least..) now is a mighty fine time to ramp up your socials so the customers are lining up when things get back to normal. Let me know where you're at, I'm happy to answer any questions and offer advice to any Aussie businesses that need a lil help right now. Jemima xx
22.01.2022 Heya! Did you know that when you build positive relationships with your audience, it increases the likelihood that they'll purchase from you... And that's the end goal, innit? To engage your audience, you need to create and share information that appeals to them and provides value. 'Value' can be entertainment or information. ... It can also be a promotion, like a coupon or sale. If you're stuck for what posting ideas.... Here are a few suggestions to get the ball rolling: Share industry news Share fan testimonials Request feedback Run a contest or giveaway Ask your audience to make a choice So there's a few options for you... and in the meantime - I'd love your thoughts When it comes to your business profiles, what is the biggest beef you struggle with?
22.01.2022 As a small business owner, it's totally normal to feel icky about promotion So here's a few ways to write a promo post, without being pushy.... Share basic, helpful info about your business. Do this by brainstorming things that make life easier for your customers. For example - "Just a reminder that we offer ___________ to make it easier for you to __________"... A bit of info about you, your expertise and what you provide. To you it probably feels like stating the bleeding obvious but your audience may not know.... besides, we're all a bit stalker-ish and love finding out more about people If you have a sale or offer - remind people of that. It doesn't need to be pushy you can keep it simple by mentioning what it is and why people like it. HINT - Include prices in your post. It saves awkwardness and makes it easier for people to make a decision.
22.01.2022 If you could make just 1 thing easier when it comes to managing your Facebook page, what would it be?
21.01.2022 Erm... anyone else feeling overwhelmed? Recently, I learnt about a genius tactic to deal with overwhelm... It's called the 'Goal Pyramid' It's a practical way to break down your 'to do' list into tangible, attainable steps. ... It takes away the intimidation by helping you identify itty bitty steps you can do in sequential order. Basically, you start with your #1 objective (i.e. your sales goal) as the apex of the pyramid, then you breakdown lower level targets in bite sized action items. Soooo, once you've identified your apex goal, you write down the secondary steps you NEED to take to get you there. On the third tier you scribble away & list the tasks required to complete the steps on tier 2. That way you have a list of small, 'do able' tasks that are easy to tick off the list and not too overwhelming. THEN when you're feeling brave and powerful, you attack the tasks on tier #2... Can you see where I'm going here? I've found this approach very helpful, because sometimes it's totally overwhelming to know what to do and how to be productive... I'd love to know whether you actually find this stuff helpful... or if I'm just sharing this info to the never-never. If it's helpful to you please drop yay or nay in the comments :-)
18.01.2022 And I'm Jemima and this is Ed Shearin' the poddy lamb (after I busted him running into the house ) Welcome to my page. It's a place where I'll share social media marketing tips & tricks... with a sprinkling of country humour. Over the years I’ve learned how to use social media to get genuinely outstanding results. And it’s been supremely satisfying kicking the butts of big, over-priced agencies. ... I got a bit sick of chiming in offering free advice to industries I don't give a toss about... so that's why I started this - to help people in rural, agricultural and equine industries. I genuinely love life in the farm lane and would love to help more like minded people grow their small businesses So, now - it's over to you. What industry are you in? What's your biggest beef when it comes to social media? Please post your questions? Or inbox if you prefer :-)
18.01.2022 Finding things to share on your page... Given that your Facebook page is not just a place for you to peddle your own wares... How do you find things to share? First up, put yourself in the position of someone following your page and think of what they might be interested in. ... Say for example your business sells free range eggs. You can share delicious breakky recipes, nutrition tips or even ideas for what to do with eggshells or empty cartons. Here's a few ways you can find things to share: 1) Use the Facebook search bar to look for topics. It's in the top, blue bar on desktop or the magnifying glass icon on mobile. 2) Join relevant groups and search within the group. Sometimes you can't share directly from groups, however you can share the original content if you click through to it. 3) Checkout popular, relevant pages and do a quick search to see if they have posted anything relevant (like a fitness/nutrition page and search for eggs). HINT: Try and MOSTLY share content that is just an image, or post or video (with no external link to a website). Facebook prefers to send it's users to other facebook links - rather than external websites.

14.01.2022 So.. um, this turtle can breathe through it's bum AND it's hairstyle is 100% legit This is an Australian Mary River turtle, a species that can breathe through special organs in their cloacas ... Sadly, the mohawk isn't a species wide thing though. This guy just had a solid thatch of algae on his head when he was snapped by a researcher in SE Queensland. So what does this have to do with marketing? Nothing at all really... It's just a good example of how fascinating content and interesting info deserves a place on your page... even if it's not related to your core business
13.01.2022 Ideas for Facebook Posts Here's the thing...People go to social media for entertainment. Just like turning on the telly, people have a quick scroll to escape from reality for a moment. Entertainment doesn't mean they just want 'funny ha-ha-humour'...It also means they want stories, news, interesting tidbits or to see what happens behind the scenes. ... It's also why you should go easy on the sales & promo posts. These type of posts should make up 25% or less of your page posts - otherwise people will tune out (the TV equivalent of changing the channel) So here's a few ideas for your next posts: Offer your expertise. People probably pick your brains all the time, so explain some 'insider' tips or expand on a complicated idea that your audience will find helpful. Give insight. Tell the story about what motivated you to start your business and what problems you solve for people. Take your audience behind the scenes. Introduce your staff, your pets or even what happens on your odd day off. You'll be surprised how much people enjoy getting a glimpse behind the scenes. Let people know what lessons you've learned from running your business. What would you do differently if you had your time again? Share a photo of a client or customer enjoying the results you gave them (make sure you've got their permission) Pose a current challenge you're experiencing and invite your audience to offer advice. Even though it feels strange, being vulnerable helps create a connection with your people. If you found this info helpful, but you're not in the headspace to take it in right now - you can save it for later when you're in business mode. Just click or tap on the three little dots on the upper right hand side and select 'Save Post' so you can come back to later : About this photo....The magnificent chompers in this photo belong to Bear, my 13hh roany pony and me with more chins than a Chinese phone book

10.01.2022 Why is 'sharing' so important? Well...you've gotta play Facebook's game to ensure your page posts get shown to more than a handful of people. Facebook's main objective is to keep people scrolling, reading and enjoying their platform. ... One of the best ways to do that is by sharing content from other pages.... because it helps users explore and stay longer on the platform. By regularly sharing content, you're showing Facebook that you're helping to circulate information (rather than just promoting yourself) and they will reward you by showing YOUR posts to more people. For helpful tips on how to find content to share, check out this post https://www.facebook.com//a.100871497999848/137133747706956

01.01.2022 Hashtags suck on Facebook Yep, hashtags help users discover new things on Instagram but they DO NOT work on Facebook Why zat? ... #1) Well, they indicate that you've got commercial intent...because MOST posts with hashtags are from businesses promoting themselves. #2) FB's gotta earn a crust too - so they'd rather you fork out for advertising so will reduce the 'reach' of posts with hashtags. #3) They look whack on Facebook. Most people speak in a conversational chatty tone on FB - when you include hashtags it looks like you've just copy/pasted the same post over from Insta and/or are trying to push something. #4) Normal Facebook users don't search for hashtags (they just use key words in the search bar) - it seems to be a douchey thing that big advertisers use to measure campaigns. So even though it's tempting to schedule the same posts and content across Insta & FB - at the very least remove the hashtags for your FB content because it's causing more harm than good
