22.01.2022 Our virtual garden continues to bloom with each of our flowers having its own significance. The Morning Flag blooms in memory of someone lost to suicide; loved and remembered. It is a reflection on a life lost and the pain for those left behind. We know that for each life lost to suicide the impacts are felt by up to 135 people, including, family members, work colleagues, friends, and first responders. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and need support, please reach out to us. We’re here 24/7 on 13 11 14 or you can text with us nightly. Lifeline Text is available 6pm midnight (AEST) on 0477 13 11 14. If you’d like to plant a flower of remembrance in our virtual garden, please visit: https://buff.ly/3icRk5r

21.01.2022 Last month Lifeline launched the "Wellbeing and Healing Through Connection and Culture Report", a study undertaken by the Centre of Best Practice. At Lifeline, we know from experience that we all need human connection, but the experience of connection to culture and concepts of healing are unique to our First Nation’s Peoples. We commissioned this report to formally acknowledge the strength of that connection and seek to understand the hope that it brings. The recommendations by Professor Pat Dudgeon and her team of researchers lay the groundwork for Lifeline to support delivery of a culturally responsive Indigenous designed and delivered national crisis line. The full report can be found here: https://buff.ly/31FYhGX

18.01.2022 The wonderful Jo from A Little Bit of Rainbow visited yesterday and helped us celebrate NAIDOC week with a weaving workshop. The hands on workshop was embraced by all with great enthusiasm and everyone enjoyed learning about different materials and methods. Of course some weaving turned out better than others, but we will weave it there! Thank you A Little Bit of Rainbow #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek #lifelinemacarthurandwesternsydney

16.01.2022 The beautiful Magenta Mist blooms in our garden for the voice of lived experience. It represents a story to share; a journey shared. We know the voice of lived experience can offer hope to others and that’s why we created our Holding on to Hope podcast series. In Holding on to Hope people who have come through the darkness of suicidality share the connection that gave them hope to continue living. Listen to Holding on to Hope at https://buff.ly/34dNDY6 or wherever you get your podcasts. You can visit our virtual garden and plant a flower for the voice of lived experience at: https://buff.ly/30lWOVp

07.01.2022 1 in 5 Australians are affected by mental illness annually, yet many don’t seek help because of stigma. We need to make a commitment to ourselves, and each other, to encourage help seeking behaviour. When we break a bone, we recognise, acknowledge and treat the problem. We need to do the same with our mental health. Asking for help is a strength and a step on your journey. If you are struggling, please reach out to someone you trust, make an appointment with your GP or pick up the phone and give us a call. We’re here for you 24/7 on 13 11 14. If you don’t feel like talking you can use our text service. Lifeline Text is available, 6pm midnight (AEDT) on 0477 13 11 14. https://buff.ly/3dW1Dud

Find the best space for you and take a moment for yourself.
