09.01.2022 I have never written about this topic before, however I feel now more than ever we all need to come together as a collective and our voices of positivity heard. I may not be considered well ‘educated’ on the matter, however I am aware and awakened to what is happening. It is time for me to be vulnerable!... It is time for me to step outside the comfort zone of my own little bubble. It is time for people to listen, not to reply but to understand. I was born white. I was born with freedom of choice. I was born for my voice to be heard. I will never understand nor pretend to know how it feels other than to be white. I will never understand nor pretend to know how it feels other than being considered ‘privileged’. However I AM ashamed! I AM angry! I AM confused! I AM sad! I AM a mother of mixed race children! I KNOW what it feels like to walk down the street and stopped to be asked Where I ‘adopted’ my children from? (Really? I grew my children inside me & I gave birth to them!) I KNOW what it feels like to have to speak to my children about why some people look at them or treat them differently. I KNOW what it feels like to stand up for & be a voice when I witness racism occurring to anyone. I don’t see colour! I SEE people! I SEE souls! I SEE that we are all connected! I SEE that we are all one! We are all equal! Black, white, rainbow EVERYONE. Let’s not get drawn into the game of separation & dividedness. Let’s reside in a place of LOVE. Let’s fully EMBODY a world of peace. Let’s BE the change we wish to see on this Earth. What I see is that a movement is happening. Become the GROWTH! Become the DIFFERENCE! Become the SHIFT! I choose LOVE. I choose UNITY. I choose COMPASSION. I choose KINDNESS. I choose TO LISTEN. I choose to treat all people equal. I choose to respect others even when I do not understand their choices. If we want to make a difference in the world, we get to do something about the things we don’t like. We get to take a stand. Be a voice for change. Speak our truth.
