24.01.2022 L A K E C A R G E L L I G O Central West NSW We’ve found a beautiful spot by the lake to enjoy our last couple of days before we start the trek home. ... This campground is Frog’s Hollow and is just on the edge of town. There is a yellow donation box near the toilets Great spot to relax, fish, swim, ski.... #lakecargelligo #centralwest #nsw #lakesidecamping #waterviews
22.01.2022 D U N L O P S T A T I O N 14km south of Louth (west side of Darling River) The Station has unpowered campsites on the river. Our site wasn’t quite one of those, we were back up near the Homestead. However, we had a nice stay and the sunset was beautiful last night!! ... Closer to the camping areas on the river there are toilets and showers. Camping fees are $20 per night. We also did the Historic Tour which we highly recommend! $15/adult or $40/family and this includes morning tea and a guided tour of the Homestead, Store and Shearing Shed. Dunlop Station was established in 1880 and was once a million acres!!! Since then it has been split into smaller private properties and Dunlop is now the smallest station in the area. The owner, Kim, bought the property 9 years and is slowly restoring the historical buildings. The tour is fantastic and Kim provides details of the interesting history of Dunlop Station. #dunlopstation #outbacknsw
21.01.2022 S I L V E R T O N Outback NSW (25km north west of Broken Hill)... Silverton is a historic mining town, established in the early 1880’s. The Silverton Village Community has put a lot of time and effort into preserved the history of this small town and today it provides a real insight into what this area was like many years ago. Such a great town to visit with so much to see!! And make sure you keep an eye out for the two friendly donkeys that roam the township!! #silverton #outbacknsw #beyond39dips
21.01.2022 NYMAGEE PUB 100kms south east of Cobar you will find this small town with a great pub and large free camping area out the back. We enjoyed an afternoon of drinks and chat with the publican and locals... gotta support the small towns ... Now we’ve found a bit more dirt road that’s open and we are heading further south towards Lake Cargelligo #nymagee #nymageepub #freecamp #beersandwine #anotherbeautifulsunset
20.01.2022 L A K E P A M A M A R O O We’ve had two fabulous days by the lake in Menindee! Lake Pamamaroo is a free camp that stretches for around 2kms along the waters edge. ... The lake is full at the moment and great for swimming, especially for kids as it’s quite shallow. And, it’s the perfect spot to sit and watch the sunset over the water! There are toilets further along at Burke & Wills Campground if needed and plenty of bins provided. We highly recommend this spot if coming to visit Menindee, it’s beautiful! #lakepamamaroo #menindee #outbacknsw #wikicamps
20.01.2022 Any trip isn’t officially complete until the new lines have been added to our map! Another great trip away in the van and the Outback is looking particularly beautiful at the moment we picked a great time to travel and get out there amongst it! We went back to visit some places we hadn’t been to for 10 years and ticked off some new ones as well! ... T H E W R A P U P . . . 16 nights 3500km total 700km on dirt (with van in tow) 11 campgrounds Averaged $16.75/night for our family of 4. We don’t tend to share fuel costs as each car’s fuel consumption is different depending on what you have and what you tow. We hope you enjoyed our look around Outback NSW!! Now to get the next 10 weeks over and do it all again... for longer #roadtrippin #outbacknsw #bushtracker #caravandays #linesonthemap #familymemories #travelasmuchasyoucan #gosee #travelaustralia #ourbackyardisbig
19.01.2022 Today on our way to Ceduna we stopped at PILDAPPA ROCK and TCHARKULDU ROCK, near the small township of Minnipa. PILDAPPA ROCK is an impressive granite outcrop with wave like formations. TCHARKULDU ROCK is another outcrop covered in spectacularly large boulders. ... You can climb both rocks and they provide amazing views of the surrounding area. Camping is also permitted at both sites. These impressive rock formations are definitely worth the short detour! #pildapparock #tcharkuldurock #minnipa #eyrepeninsula #southaustralia
18.01.2022 P E N R O S E P A R K Silverton, Outback NSW Last night really turned it on for us in Silverton... the sunset was amazing!!!... We enjoyed our stay at Penrose Park and it’s a great base to explore Silverton (and Broken Hill). Plenty of space to spread out if you don’t need power and a good spot if you enjoy bush camping. #silverton #outbacknsw
18.01.2022 KINCHEGA NATIONAL PARK Menindee, NSW The Darling River Drive is a 27km loop through the National Park with a few historical stops along the way.... THE WOOLSHED which was built in 1875. Over the course of the 95 years of operation some 6 million sheep were shorn here. SHEARERS QUARTERS home to the men and women who worked in the Woolshed. OLD KINCHEGA HOMESTEAD RUINS built in the 1870s. Remnants of the paddle steamer, PS PROVIDENCE. The paddle steamer exploded here back in 1872. There are also 34 campsites dotted along the river, most were a decent size, all have great views of the Darling and they are well spread out. Would be a great spot to camp! National Park fees apply. It was $8 for a day pass and camping fees are applicable if you wish to stay (bookings essential at the moment). The last couple of shots are from the lookout over Lake Menindee showing the lack of water... very different to Lake Pamamaroo where we are camped which is full!
17.01.2022 KIMBA RECREATION RESERVE Kimba SA This would have to be up there with one of the best free (donation ) camps we have stayed at in the middle of a town! ... Huge area, quiet location, toilets, showers ($$), great playground for the kids and the grounds are extremely well maintained. Donation box near the toilets... it’s well worth putting in some so they keep this facility open for everyone to enjoy! Thanks Kimba!!! Check it out if you are coming this way, we highly recommend it And, if you have kids, be sure to call into the Apex/Lions Park in town... it got a HUGE thumbs up from our two!!!
12.01.2022 We are always on the hunt for the best mozzie repellent and after a few different types we’ve found it!! THERMACELL | Mosquito Repellent We grabbed one from Bunnings before we left on our last trip. It worked incredibly well, we were very impressed!! ... They are around $50 but worth every cent! Comes with 3 x 4 hour repeller mats and 1 x 12 hour butane cartridge. Provides a 21m square zone of protection. No smell or spray. Perfect for outdoor entertaining at home as well! #nomoremozzies #greatproduct #getone * , s !
11.01.2022 After our look around Dunlop Station yesterday, we continued along the western side of the Darling for around 80kms and pulled up at TILPA WEIR for the night. This is a free camp with no facilities and is on the eastern side of the Darling, around 5kms north of Tilpa Pub. The pub wasn’t open on our way through this morning but we stopped for a look around anyway. ... We’ve now made our way down the Darling River Run to Menindee for a couple of days of relaxing by the lake. Road conditions have been good the whole way down the Darling #tilpa #tilpaweir #darkingriverrun #outbacknsw #freecamping #wikicamps

08.01.2022 UTES IN THE PADDOCK Condobolin NSW This is an outdoor art gallery showcasing 19 Holden utes that have been painted by Australian artists. ... Each ute has an info board with the artist’s name and the inspiration behind the design. A quirky little stop! #utesinthepaddock #condobolin #nsw
06.01.2022 The heater has been turned down in the outback... it didn’t get over 12 degrees in Broken Hill with drizzly rain during our stay Our top recommendations when you visit... Royal Flying Doctor Service Tour... Such an incredibly important service in the outback and well worth the visit and support! Very informative. Silver City Mint & Art Centre + Broken Hill Chocolate Factory The BIG PICTURE is AMAZING!!! It’s the world’s largest acrylic painting on canvas - 100m x 12m!!! No pics allowed so you’ll just have to trust our recommendation! Line of Lode Miners Memorial This memorial pays tribute to more than 800 lives lost due to mining. Many other things to see and do in Broken Hill but if you are time poor at least do the three above As it does out here, the weather is playing a part in where we go next. The rain around has caused many road closures so our trip across the dirt to Ivanhoe and Hillston will have to wait for another time. Instead, we are on the black stuff heading east to see what else we can find! #brokenhill #outbacknsw
06.01.2022 I don’t think we could have stumbled upon a better camp for our last night than this one!! This is Crusher Campground, 10km west of Gulgong on Mebul Road (see WikiCamps pic for details). We came through from Wellington and there was around 15km of dirt road and another 4km from the campground back through to Gulgong this morning. No facilities here, just a beautiful secluded free camp on the river... our ideal spot!... We suggest parking at the top and walking in to check road conditions and space before going down if towing. #crushercampground #gulgong #freecamp #river #nsw
