20.01.2022 Hello there, Jubilee! :D Jubilee completed his physiotherapy degree at Curtin University, where he showed a keen interest in paediatrics in his final year placement. As a result of original yoga stories that he wrote and used as an innovative treatment tool for his young patients he was awarded the APA Paediatric Physiotherapy Student of the Year. Prior to this he completed a Sport Science degree at UWA in 2011. Jubilee also currently holds a leadership role in the group fitn...ess community in WA as a Bodybalance instructor. Since graduation Jubilee has combined his keen interests in human movement with his clinical skills as a physiotherapist to work in private practice physiotherapy; treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal presentations. He especially enjoys working with patients who suffer from gym or exercise related restrictions, educating patients on optimising lifestyle factors to reduce pain and treating spine related presentations such as low back pain or neck conditions. Jubilee is currently working on a childrens yoga picture book aimed at kids aged 2-8 to introduce them to mindfulness practice and freedom of expression through movement. He also spends his free time in the ocean, 4WDing or camping as much as he can in the summer. To book in with Jubilee, call our clinic on 9500 7643!

20.01.2022 Did you know that we now offer Exercise Physiology (or EP) at our Rockingham clinic with our radiant Katie? Dont know what an EP does? Well, exercise physiologist are university-qualified allied health professionals who deliver exercise as treatment for people with chronic medical conditions and injuries. They differ from physiotherapists because they are purely exercise specialists and have a deep understanding of the bodys responses to exercise and how they can change it to improve you overall health and quality of life. If you think this will help you or a loved-one, give us a call on 9500 7643 to see Katie today. She is covered under all private health funds and can also be seen on a care plan from your GP.

04.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the rad dads and father figures out there! Thank you for being such important role models for us all Feat. Our MP Luke and his girls, Bella and Izzy

04.01.2022 As physiotherapists we often see clients who have recently received a diagnosis of Osteoarthritis (OA), the most commonly reported forms being hip and knee OA with knee OA estimated to affect the lives of around 250 million people worldwide. With so many people affected by this condition worldwide, you would expect a very clear message and understanding of the best forms of managing the condition, which is usually associated with a progressive stiffening of a joint as well as... pain in and around the area. However, we often have clients coming in with very minimal understanding of what to do about this new diagnosis. "Should I avoid using it?", "Do I need an operation?", "Should I stop or avoid exercise?" are some other questions we receive. The answers to the above are do NOT avoid using it! You do not need an operation! Definitely do not avoid or stop exercising! Exercise is often thought of as having the potential to make the joint worse but in fact exercise is one of the most important things to continue with, start or even increase when it comes to managing OA. Evidence into the effects of exercise have been shown to be more effective in reducing pain in knee OA when compared to the use of Paracetamol. An effective exercise plan needs to be targeted to each individual person and their goals. This program should often include three main aspects; joint range of motion, strengthening and aerobic exercise. Range of motion exercises are to maintain your joint movement. Think of this: If you dont use it, you lose it. Strength exercises are to maintain or improve the strength around the affected joint. Improving the strength of surrounding muscles can help support the joint and act as a type of buffer to help off load the joint by dispersing the force through your muscles instead of the joint itself. Programs should include at least two days per week of strength exercises. Finally, aerobic exercise is regularly included in any management program This is usually in the form of walking, where the goal is to maintain normal health guidelines of 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week. The aerobic form of exercise is also helpful in managing body weight and even if done regularly to manage and prevent many other chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. If you have any questions about osteoarthritis or our Supervised Exercise Sessions, contact us on 9500 7643 to book in!
