During each group session, teens are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills in session during activities. This program is suitable for young people aged 13-17. A caregiver’s participation is a mandatory ...requirement for engagement in this program. If you watched Love on the Spectrum Netflix - you may remember the Young Adults version of the program! 25.01.2022 Meet COLIN, one of our wonderful OT Assistants on the Life Skills Hub Team ! Colin has experience working as an Allied Health Assistant and Mentor in the paediatric and mental health space, and is studying towards becoming an Occupational Therapist. Colin’s number one aim is to be someone that people will feel safe with and know they can turn to for support. Colin will be offering 1:1 services starting in mid-December . Here is a message from the man himself : "Hi, my nam...e is Colin and I'm a 3rd year Occupational Therapy student at UniSA. I also work as personal trainer at a fitness studio ! I have a keen interest in keeping fit and living an active lifestyle. I'm very passionate about the power of a positive mindset and hope to be able to help people make the most of their capabilities and live a happy and full life . I love to think deeply about things (some might say overthink!) and can easily spend hours contemplating all the complexities of life if given the chance . This definitely includes passionate debate about whether tomato sauce belongs in the cupboard or the fridge (it’s the cupboard!!) . I’m a massive lover of all animals, and have both a dog and a cat who I adore, despite the fact they might be a little crazy . I like to spend my free time relaxing with my partner, going on day-trips around Adelaide and experiencing everything our little city has to offer . If you would like to book with Colin, you can download your booking forms on our website and email [email protected]. Be quick to ensure you don’t miss out!

24.01.2022 Meet SARAH! Sarah comes to us with years of experience in the field supporting children and young people . Her drive to empower youth and drive positive wellbeing made her a perfect fit for our team! Here is a message from her: "Hi I’m Sarah! I am a Social Worker with years of experience supporting children and young people in a counselling role, as group facilitator and in 1:1 support. Four of those years were spent working solely with young people on the autism spectrum... and this is one of my passions! I have always had a desire to work with young people. Seeing them learn the tools and strategies for healthy social and emotional wellbeing is what drives me. It is important that a young person feels empowered to identify how it is that THEY would like to be supported. As a Social Worker it is so important to spread the word on what social workers can do to support young people; counselling, mental health, emotional regulation strategies, development of social skills, confidence, and resilience. I look forward to meeting and supporting you at Life Skills Hub" If you think Sarah may be able to support a young person you know - please do not hesitate to contact us via email at [email protected]. Otherwise - we will be back in the office on Tuesday for phone calls ! #lifeskillshub #socialwork #socialskills #counselling #empowerment #resilience #strategies #support #connection

22.01.2022 Life Skills Hub values the importance of a diverse range of services - including Allied Health Assistants! AHA's provide therapeutic and program-related support to clients under the guidance of a qualified Allied Health Professional (such as an OT). HOW DOES IT WORK? ... 1) The OT will meet with a client to determine their needs and whether the AHA service will be appropriate. 2) If deemed appropriate - the OT will develop a therapeutic program for the AHA to follow. 3) The OT and AHA will meet regularly to provide feedback and monitor progress. Session costs for AHA's are significantly less - which means you can access services more frequently ! Our booking forms are now available online to download. Don't forget to press 'save' once you have completed it! We will be contacting clients who have registered NEXT WEEK for bookings #alliedhealthassistance #disabilityservices #lifeskillshub #occupationaltherapy #OT #AHA #autismadelaide #adelaidemums #adelaidedads

15.01.2022 Meet JESSIE ! Jessie joins the Life Skills Hub team with an array of experience supporting young people and adults. Her gentle yet playful nature made her a perfect fit as a mentor and allied health assistant! Here is a message from her: "Hi, my name is Jessie and I’m an Occupational Therapist in the making!... For the past 4 years I have been working as a children’s gymnastics instructor! I have also had previous experience working as an OT assistant in brain injury rehabilitation and have completed a number of university placements supporting people to become independent and do the things they enjoy! As a child, I was very shy and found new experiences quite difficult. I think that’s one of the reasons why I enjoy working with children because I am able to use my past experiences to support them to feel comfortable and confident. Being able to see a change in children’s confidence and social skills is something I find very rewarding! When I’m not working or studying, you’ll find me at the gym or out on adventures with my friends creating new memories! I’m also a sucker for a good coffee and a chat. I look forwards to meeting you all for some art, cooking and gymnastics!" We are now taking bookings of our services in the New Year!
