13.01.2022 Calling all sewers! The team at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne enjoyed our Little Reader's Read-a-thon so much this year that they are looking to promote the benefits of reading to families all year long. To do this they are calling on our Handmade Heroes’ community to sew 800 library bags for them! If you’d like to help you can find our pattern here: https://lifeslittletreasures.org.au/draw-string-bag/... We ask that all Drawstring bag donations are sent to our head office at: Life’s Little Treasures Foundation, 1/21 Eugene Terrace, Ringwood, VIC 3134 only. Please note: - The hospital does not have the resources to sort through donations, so they can only be accepted through LLTF. - This pattern has been hospital approved and unfortunately we can not accept variations on the pattern design.

11.01.2022 "We were given the worst-case-scenario run down of what might happen that our baby would be tiny, she might not be breathing, she may need to be transferred to a different hospital. The unknowns were terrifying. I was treated by a midwife who had her son at 35 weeks, she described them being in the isolette as a see through stomach and that we would get extra time with our baby. The next morning I had my waters broken, the epidural in place and a syntocinon drip. Isla did...n’t tolerate the drip at all, every time I had a contraction her heart rate would slow or stop. It was so scary hearing the beeping stop. They continued to lower the dose and check my progress, I will never forget a midwife racing in the doctor wants the baby out now. " Isla Joy was born at 34 weeks, after a traumatic entrance due to Mum Eden's pre-eclampsia. Mum Eden shares their story on the blog: https://bit.ly/3cAWk2J #prematurebaby #34weekpreemie #preeclampsia #nicu
11.01.2022 First-time Mum, Tama-Leigh shares her daughter Lilith's story who was born in June "Baby Lilith was brought into this world via emergency csection on the 23rd of July 2020 at 37 weeks due to Pre-eclampsia. Thankfully she had no troubles breathing but did have issues with her sugar levels, jaundice and was born weighing only 1.4kgs Being our first baby and not knowing what to expect was such a terrifying feeling . Time felt like it was somewhat standing still in the wo...rld around me but the weeks passed and not a lot changed. She spent a few weeks in an isolette before making the move to an open cot finally her feeding tube came out and she was taking all bottle feeds on demand . She's been in hospital now for 5 weeks and a day and looking at a possible discharge on Monday the 31/08/2020 and the support has been so amazingly overwhelming. Thank you to everyone involved " Mum, Tama-leigh UPDATE: "She finally came home 6 after just shy of 6 weeks in the SCN and is absolutely thriving " Thanks for sharing your story Tama-leigh. So glad all has gone well and Lilith is thriving! > If you'd like to share your story, please get in touch. Your stories give new parents hope and context at a time that is confusing and stressful. #prematurebaby #nicu #bornearly #tellyourstory #37weeks
08.01.2022 We had some lovely visitors today at head office. Lyn from Ferntree Gully and Marj made the trip all the way from Wonthaggi to drop off a huge box of hand-made goodies for us to include in our bags for families in hospital. We are so grateful and know how much families treasure these gifted items. We are slowly easing back into being in head office, and we can now accept deliveries, however we ask you to please call 1300 697 736 first to arrange a suitable time to ensure we are able to meet and thank you.

We hope you're still all reading and that our Little Reader's Read-a-thon has sparked a love of reading and sharing stories with your family.
04.01.2022 #selfcaresunday We all know this, yet it's hard to find the time to prioritise yourself. Start with small things that make you feel good and that you can achieve.
