21.01.2022 Dr David spent yesterday learning the latest techniques in sinus bone grafting for dental implants at UWA's surgical training centre - CTEC. Thanks to Southern dental Implants for organising aswell as the people who have donated their bodies to UWA to enable teaching/practice of surgical techniques on cadavers. Fantastic day of learning!

09.01.2022 Thumb sucking is a normal and completely healthy habit that allows a child to self soothe. However,if it continues for too long it will move the teeth and change the shape of the developing face and jaws, which can lead to a number of other problems. We suggest that you try to stop your child thumb sucking as soon as they are ready - ideally before 4. There are many strategies which we can talk to you about, but one obvious one is good old bribery!! Congrats to Zoe (and her mum Karalee) who has recently stopped thumb sucking thanks to the power of a beanie boo bribe!!

08.01.2022 Dear Patients and Friends, As you are all aware, we are living through what is probably a once in a 100 year event with the Corona Virus Pandemic. In order to help stem the spread of the Corona virus, the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) and the Australian Dental Association (ADA) have issued Dental Treatment Guidelines which currently limit the treatment that we are able to perform to treatment of an urgent or emergency nature. ... We have therefore postponed all hygiene appointments for April and May. However, should you have any troubling dental issues, we will still be here and available to help. Please call the Practice on 93413331 for an appointment. Should the office not be attended, please leave a message on the answering machine and we'll get back to you ASAP. In the event of an emergency, please contact Dr Porzig - his mobile number will be on the answering machine. You will notice that there have been a few changes at the practice to help keep everyone safe. Please do not enter the practice if you are feeling unwell or have a fever or cough - please call beforehand if you are at all unsure about this. Prior to entering, please use the hand sanitiser available outside the front door which is being left open. We are asking any accompanying friends or family to please remain in your car, rather than in reception. Clinically, we follow all the ADA Standard Precautions for infection control which are unchanged. There will be some additional precautions such as pre-procedure antibacterial/antiviral mouth rinses.
