25.01.2022 10 natural supplements for your immune health Eating healthily, getting enough sleep and taking exercise are all great ways to help your immune system thrive. Sometimes however, we all need a bit of extra help, and these natural supplements might be what your immune system needs! 1. Bee Pollen Being highly stressed can weaken your immune system, and the vitamin B in bee pollen is a great way to combat stress. The majority of your immune system resides in your digestive s...ystem, and because bee pollen aids the digestion process, it may also improve your immune health. 2. Manuka Honey Manuka Honey improves gut and digestive health and in doing so contributes to immune health. A natural antibacterial, antifungal and antibiotic, manuka honey may increase your immune defence by providing resistance to pathogens including h. pylori, e coli and streptococcus. 3. Probiotics these can be found in fermented foods like yoghurt, cheese and kefir, and are commonly sold as supplements. Probiotics increase the amount of good bacteria in your gut to support better gut health, absorption of nutrients and a stronger stomach lining to assist immune function. 4. Antioxidants Abundant in fruits and vegetables, antioxidants are also available in a range of supplements and powders and contribute to better overall health. The antioxidant Vitamins A, C and E fight free radical damage that reduces effective immune response over time. They also help your body produce antibodies and white blood cells essential to a strong immune function. 5. Bioflavonoids Bioflavonoids are found in the skin of most colourful fruits and vegetables. Like antioxidants, they fight free radical damage and increase cell health. They strengthen capillaries and help prevent bacteria passing from the blood into the organs. Bioflavonoids improve the activity of Vitamin C and the two should be taken or eaten together! 6. Beta-carotene Another antioxidant that helps boost the bodys T-cell count to fight infection and disease on a cellular level. Beta carotene is found in yellow fruits pumpkin, squash, carrots and sweet potato. 7. Zinc Zinc also plays a role in the production of white blood cells to aid a strong immune function. 8. Vitamin B Folic acid and vitamin B12 assist the immune system by ensuring healthy production and growth of white blood cells that defend against infections. 9. Omega 3 Found in deep sea fish and a range of natural supplements like green lipped mussel, Omega 3 assists the immune system by increasing the activity of phagocytes cells that destroy bacteria. 10. Propolis Propolis is a natural substance and a potent bioflavonoid containing many of the vitamins listed above for improving immune health. Propolis is a natural antibacterial and can be used as a first line of defence against bacterial invaders orally and topically.

22.01.2022 5 Ways to Boost Your Immune System This Winter With so many colds and flus about, boosting your immune system is the important key to staying healthy. Here are our best tips to get well and stay well... 1. Diet Garlic, Ginger, Plenty of Cooked Vegetables, Nourishing Broths and Slow Cooked Warming Meals. These are the foods to keep you warm on the inside when its cold outside. 2. Sleep The importance of sleep cannot be over emphasised. If you can, get 8 hours - yes 8 hours. Make it a priority. Sleep in a cool dark room but well covered and cosy. Try to go to bed at the same time every night and remember that your body is busy detoxifying and rebuilding during the night. The hours before midnight are possibly the most important ones in which to be asleep. 3. Hydration Good quality water alkaline if you can get it. Hot drinks are key; dont drink cold or icy cold drinks. Herbal Teas are good but may not be your thing. Try ordinary tea (weakish) and add your own ingredients e.g. lemon and ginger with boiling water and honey. Earl Grey is a favourite for this. 4. Stress Stress uses up nutrients and leaves you open to infection through your emotional reaction to whats occurring. You can drop your inherent immune guard when you are emotional. So it may be difficult, but if you can minimise your stress it can be really helpful in keeping your immune system strong. 5. Supplements It pays to boost your immune system with selected supplements, especially through the winter. Amongst the best are Vitamin C, Echinacea and Horseradish but the hero of them all is Propolis.

11.01.2022 You may have noticed that beekeeping can be a lot of work. Beekeepers have to tend to colonies of thousands of bees and make sure that everything is just right. They are constantly fighting off pests, such as mites and ants, while also ensuring that the bees are producing enough honey to survive winter. So, why do people do it? What benefits come from beehives? Honey The first thing people think of beekeeping is honey. Honey is the most popular resource harvested from beehive...s. There is nothing like harvesting your own honey. Give some local freshly harvested honey a taste and you will agree that store bought honey cannot compare at all. Honey has health benefits too. It's used as both a food and medicine. honey, especially Manuka honey, is rich in antioxidants, which reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Eating honey can also help your blood pressure. Antioxidant compounds in honey have been linked to lower blood pressure. Honey has also been shown to lower bad cholesterol while raising good cholesterol. Manuka honey is used to treat wounds and for skin care. Manuka's antibacterial properties reduce the healing time of wounds while aiding in tissue regeneration. Pollination Another benefit of keeping bees is pollination. Plants need bees to pollinate them so they can reproduce. Bees do this naturally when they are foraging for pollen and nectar. Basically, pollen from the plant's stamen gets stuck on the bee. When she goes to another flower the pollen falls off onto the plant's stigma. This is what needs to happen for fruits and vegetables to develop. Gardeners love bees because it is impossible to have a bountiful garden without pollinators. So for them, pollination is a major advantage of beekeeping. It's Fun! Simply put, beekeeping is fun! It's great to be around the bees and be a part of nature. You get to witness something truly amazing when caring for bees. It's also a rewarding experience to get to share beekeeping, or even just knowledge about bees with others. Once your hive is set up and your bees are settled in, beekeeping is relatively low maintenance. Hive checks can take as little as half an hour, depending on how many hives you have. 10.01.2022 Manuka Honey: A few little facts you might like to know.... Type of Ingredient: Antibacterial / anti-viral / anti-fungal, as well as an anti-inflammatory and humectant... Main Benefits: Aids in wound healing due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties; draws in moisture to the skin, and can soothe irritated skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Who Should Use It: Anyone looking for hydrating and soothing benefits; Manuka honey may also be beneficial for those with eczema and acne. How Often Can You Use It: It can be used once or twice daily Works Well With: Manuka honey works synergistically with other antibiotic ingredients, as well as other wound-healing ingredients. It also works well when combined with other ingredients - such as shea butter and glycerin to moisturise the skin. Dont Use It With: There are no specific ingredients known to have a negative interaction with Manuka Honey at the moment, though to be safe - its best to not pair it with potent active ingredients (like retinoids or acids) Benefits of Manuka Honey For Skin Has Strong Antibacterial Properties: Because Manuka Honey contains both Hydrogen peroxide and methylglyoxal, its potent against a variety of bacteria. In fact, its even been shown to have antibacterial effects on e.coli and as well as MSRA, notes Nussbaum, though she adds that more research must be done to conclusively confirm which bacteria it can effectively combat. Promotes Wound Healing: Manuka Honey recruits the correct type of cells, known as fibroblasts, needed to help wounds heal. Aside from that, it also creates a moist environment and a protective barrier to speed up healing, which is why its often used to treat wounds, burns and ulcers. There are even few studies that showed Manuka Honey decreased pain. It Is An Effective Anti-Inflammatory: The anti-inflammatory properties of Manuka Honey have not been matched in honey derived from other species of bees. This is beneficial not only for the aforementioned medical issues, but also for other conditions such as acne and eczema. Offers Anti-oxidant Protection: Manuka honey may down-regulate skin-damaging reactive oxygen species (caused by exposures to free radicals), making it beneficial for anti-aging purposes. Draws Moisture to the skin: Manuka honey is a natural humectant due to its sugar component, meaning it helps draw in and retain moisture in the skin. This makes it a useful ingredient in moisturisers and emollients

07.01.2022 Via One Green Planet The plight of the honey bee is not one that should be taken lightly. Over the past few decades, the global population of bees have been sharply declining. Researchers have grappled with understanding what exactly is causing the decline in the bee populations and at the same time, humans have been forced to face the reality of what the loss of the bee means for the large, global ecosystem. You see, like many other species, the bee plays a vital role in kee...ping the balance between other species and their environment. In the case of bees and humans, these little insects are largely responsible for regulating our food supply. Why do humans need bees? A study published in Nature Communications found that just two percent of wild bee species contributes 80% of the crop pollination visits observed globally. This means that if this small percentage of bees disappears... then 80 percent of our agricultural system will collapse. Seventy of the top 100 food crops grown worldwide rely on pollinators, this is equivalent to 90 percent of the world's nutrition. It might sound unbelievable, but without bees, we can say goodbye to foods such as apples, almonds, oranges and avocados! The same study was able to value bees in regards to their value on our economy... They concluded that bees contribute around $3,250 to crop production per hectare, per year. To put that in context, the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation estimates that 1.4 billion hectares of land across the world is currently being cultivated for crops. That equals out to being around $4.2 trillion added to the global economy, all thanks to little bees! How you can help save the bees! 1. Plant bee-friendly plants in your garden. 2. Support organic farmers who do not use chemicals on their crops. 3. Spread the word about the importance of bees and their declining population!

07.01.2022 For all of those with sensitive skin, the natural beauty ingredient you need to know about for brightening, acne-fighting, and maintaining a youthful glow is Propolis! What is Bee Propolis? Bee propolis is what is created when bees harvest a trees immunity-boosting secretions like sap and resin, adding enzymes through their body processes, as well as plain beeswax, to produce an end product thats antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and an antioxidant.... "To truly understand what a powerful compound propolis is, you have to look at the plant world. Propolis comes from the giants in the plant kingdom: trees. And trees have evolved to live thousands of years, but in order to do this, they have to survive all environmental aggressors: viral, bacterial, pollution, insects, etc. To withstand all of this, trees have created a strong immunity of plant phenol chemicals and bioflavonoids to defend themselves," What are the benefits of bee propolis in skin care? This powerful natural ingredient has become a staple in the natural world. Its especially great for those with sensitive or sensitised skin because it treats and nurtures skin rather than stripping the skin carrier - like many of the topicals on the market can do. - Eases inflammatory redness and pigmentation - Can help treat acne - Offers antioxidant protection from environmental aggressors like pollution, sunlight and radiation - It may aid in wound healing and supports collagen production ----------------------------------------------------------------- What about propolis tinctures? Skin care isnt the only way to access the potent beautifying potential of Propolis. You can also take it via sprays or tincture for allergy-fighting, immunity-boosting holistic care. You can find our propolis range of products at www.naturallife.com.au & Wild Bee by Natural Life
07.01.2022 3 Simple Ways to Save the Bees A perfect isolation project! 1. Plant a Bee-Garden... There are many practical things you can do in your garden to make it more bee-friendly. Start by choosing native-plants or buying flowers which bloom year-round. 2. Choose organic or grow your own Avoiding pesticides and GMOs may be one of the best things you can do to support bees and encourage colony survival. Buying organic food and plant material is an easy (but sometimes costly) way to do this - however if you have the ability to grow your own, you could end up better off! 3. Build a Bee-Hotel Bees are solitary things and need protected individual areas to nest and look after their larvae. Building a bee hotel/house is simple to do and provides extra space for them when naturally occurring homes are less available.
