24.01.2022 Therapy doesnt have to be a dirty word. The purpose of therapy is to provide a space to process information, reflect on your challenges, reactions and values and work together to turn problems into solutions. . At LIFT, we value being: Relatable Person-centred... Solution-focused Evidence-based . Our goal is simply this: Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Mother Teresa See more

21.01.2022 To train your brain in the same way you train your body you need to focus your training and a coach can help you with that. As sport psychologists we are uniquely positioned to assist with performance training that encompasses the whole person. #everyoneneedsaLIFT @jesscutler__

20.01.2022 This applies to attending a psychology session or showing up each day, especially with all of the chaos we are currently facing in the world. Thank you for being brave and showing up today.

19.01.2022 This street art by artist Sebastian Moody is located up the road from our Brisbane clinic in Fortitude Valley. . It is an interesting thought. The more attention we give our thoughts, the more we hook with them, and the more they influence our actions and cause distress. We dont have to get rid of our unhelpful thoughts, we can change how we relate to them and create space to give us flexibility in how we respond. Thoughts are stories, not rules or truths, that we can choose to interact with in different ways. We have more power to commit to our actions than we think!

19.01.2022 During Lockdown 1.0, our Director sat down with LIFT Ambassador @pettybourne_13 across continents to hear what strategies he was using to manage the stress and challenges of lockdown and what keeps him going when times get tough. Enjoy!

18.01.2022 Teamwork makes the dream work. . Enriched environments are best for staff wellbeing, staff retention and long-term performance. An enriched environment is made up of psychological safety, connection, choice and motivation to approach challenges rather than avoiding challenges. The same principles for effective teams apply in sport and business. We teach corporate clients these principles in interactive workshops that take the tools of elite performance and apply them in a corporate context. . Pictured is one of our corporate workshops. We like to keep things interactive!

18.01.2022 Context-dependent learning. We can chat about performance and mental health and well-being concepts all day but the magic doesnt happy until those concepts become actions and can be applied in the specific performance/wellbeing context that is important for our client. Thats why youll often see us at sporting events and training sessions, providing real-time feedback and making sure our clients achieve great results. How can you apply performance strategies in your performance context today? @jesscutler__

18.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS!! We are hiring! We are currently looking for a psychologist with experience in sport to join the team 1 - 2 days/week. The job would be based in Brisbane. Email [email protected] for details.

18.01.2022 Another great session with SEDA College students today! #everyoneneedsaLIFT #Repost @seda_mv_tpp_northmelb Another great presentation from Rachel Jones @lifthighperformance discussing the connection of your thoughts/feelings/actions and creating consistent actions to improve your consistency of performance. #consistentactions #ChaseYourPotential #thoughtsfeelingsactions

17.01.2022 Where are your choices taking you? Do you feel like the world is running on without you, throwing up hurdles at every turn or are you able to turn each hurdle into an opportunity to be better? . Our brain interprets circumstances differently dependent on whether you view them as problems or challenges. A problem reinforces learned helplessness which is incredibly disempowering, whilst a challenge spurs us into action to come up with a plan to overcome it and find a solution. What choice are you making today? #mondaymotivation

17.01.2022 Don’t let the fear of uncertainty stop you from being present today. What is fear holding you back from? #quoteoftheday

16.01.2022 Are you tracking your progress? Writing it down and keeping a record is the only objective way to keep track and encourage yourself, especially if you are still waiting for competitions to start. Pictured is an app that we love to use; Grid Diary Classic. You can tailor the questions, add photos and track how your mood changes. We recommend asking questions like what did I do well today? What could be better? What am I grateful for today? What can I work on tomorrow? Remember to be specific and base it around your big picture vision. Let us know how you go!

16.01.2022 R U OK? . If this year has taught us anything its that we need to keep looking out for each other and we need to find ways to stay connected, keeping in mind that everyone is being challenged and under pressure in different ways and coping in different ways. . We need each other now more than ever and we all need an injection of hope that things will get better and that we are not alone in our struggles. Never assume that everything is okay but ask the question and follow ...up. There is so much support available but it doesnt mean anything unless we use it. Lets make sure we check in with ourselves and others around us today. You could save a life. #ruokay See more

16.01.2022 Hooray, its the weekend!! Theres still plenty of negative news out there but remember theres still plenty to celebrate! We just need to be deliberate about recognising the good things as our brain gives more attention to the negatives to keep us safe. What has been great about your week? Let us know by commenting below.

16.01.2022 Happiness is something you can be intentional about and can choose in any circumstance. Ill be happy when... is one of the biggest traps you can fall into. Instead of waiting for life to be perfect or to get more stuff and achievements, choose happiness by living by your values. You wont regret it!

16.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all of the Fathers and father-figures out there! Fathers play a powerful role in the formation of identity. Today our thoughts go out especially to those who have lost their fathers and to all of the single parents who are doing it all on their own. We are thinking of you! You are amazing!

15.01.2022 Often when we bring our feelings into the light by acknowledging them and accepting them, and/or talking about them, we remove some of the shame associated with these normal experiences and give ourselves space to actually address what they are telling us. When we do that, we are empowered to act and get our needs met in a healthy way. This takes time and practice and can be enhanced with the help of others, particularly trained professionals. Lets all commit to listening to our emotions so we can look after our mental health better. #menshealthweek

15.01.2022 Balance is difficult to achieve and can feel like a vague concept that we need to prioritise but can never reach. A better way to think of balance is as a focus issue. Someone who focuses on work 24/7 even if they only work 40 hours a week is likely to be more burnt out then someone who works 60 hours a week but switches off after work. . It is important to have a good routine for after work and/or training to gain closure and switch off, allowing you to back up again and perform at a high standard quickly instead of feeling mentally drained. Intentionally focus on other things at home (not just TV) and switch off notifications to work emails if possible. By being more present you will refresh your mind and sleep better at night.

14.01.2022 How do you reflect and get closure on your performances? . Reflection is an important skill that helps you to evaluate your performance in context with your other performances, helping to increase consistency. A good reflection process should include specific time set aside, evaluation of what to keep and change mentally, technically and tactically and include a plan for improvement for the next performance. Once the reflection process has been completed, make sure you switch your focus onto something else and stop thinking about your performance.

14.01.2022 What is your identity built on? . Performance-based identity is very fragile. Things feel great when youre performing well and riding the high of great performances but collapse quickly when performances dont get well or when something like injuries interfere with the ability to perform at all. Purpose-based identity on the other hand is not dependent feelings or achievement but instead on pursuing purpose and values which relies on growth and development. It is a lot more stable and can help to withstand the challenges that life throws our way.

13.01.2022 A great message from The Test on @primevideoaunz

13.01.2022 We are blessed to have some incredible men involved with LIFT and this Mens Health Week we want to take the time to both celebrate them and recognise that we need to continue to support our fathers, brothers, friends, husbands, partners and sons. . The suicide rate for men in Australia is still terrifyingly high. We need to continue to make support available, create safe spaces to speak up, follow up on conversations, care for each other and improve professional mental health services. . Who are some of the great men in your life? What can you do this week to let them know how much they mean to you?

13.01.2022 Lest we forget. #remembranceday

13.01.2022 COVID has certainly brought its challenges but weve enjoyed making the most of the opportunity to upskill in technology and connect with clients around the country. This week we have been connecting with footballers in lockdown in Victoria, talking about mental prep strategies and performing under pressure. . #Repost @sedamctpp_hawthorn Great to have Rachel from @lifthighperformance to speak to our students about mental preparation in sport #chaseyourfuture

12.01.2022 Is your approach to your sport simple enough? . Often our brain will trick us into thinking that we need to complicate things especially under pressure. However, thats exactly when we need to keep things simple and stick to the plan. Think about one or two actions that you focus on in practice or when youre performing well and practice focusing on those things when you are tempted to complicate things. The challenge is to commit to doing the simple things when everything is telling you to think more. Markus Spiske

11.01.2022 There are some exciting things happening in women’s sport in Australia and around the world at the moment! There are plenty of great performances to watch. . We are proud to have a female director and to currently be working with 3 elite women’s squads and 5 High Performance female squads. . The future is looking bright! #yeahthegirls ... from Football Qld Headquarters

11.01.2022 A quote from Kelly Rowland to celebrate the @thevoiceau finale last night. Whilst not every performer will experience nerves in the same way, how you view and harness them will make the difference between a great performance and a poor performance. Its okay to be nervous; use breathing and/or mindfulness to make the physical symptoms manageable and have the courage to commit to your job regardless of how you feel. Youll be surprised by the result.

10.01.2022 Do we help with PERFORMANCE or MENTAL HEALTH? The answer is BOTH! At LIFT we believe that everyone is a performer and that mental health or illness is the ultimate performance challenge in that it can stop us from functioning in everyday life if left unmanaged. Also, performers are people too so if we want to help the performer we need to also support the person behind the performance. . Because of these principles you will see a mixture of content from us covering both performance tips and mental health/therapy processes and support. #everyoneneedsaLIFT

09.01.2022 What positive deposits can you make today?

08.01.2022 Are you a lone nut or a first follower? #leadership

08.01.2022 An important message to remember this Mens Health Week and every day after that. To the men in our community and beyond, we honour you, we thank you for being you and all you contribute by being who you are, were here for you, we support you and we love you.

07.01.2022 What if we thought of mental health in the same way we thought about physical health? Similar to physical health, we need both preventative and reactive interventions to increase our general mental health and manage mental illness. Hear what our director, @racheljoneslifthpc had to say about this to her colleagues at the QAS last year.

04.01.2022 We hope youre enjoying the Show Holiday and long weekend in South East Queensland. We will be closed today and over the weekend to refresh and recharge after a busy few months. We will be back on Monday.

03.01.2022 Ready for another week? Its always good to add time to invest in yourself and your development and allow for some margin in your plan to make sure you can stay present and bring your best to every situation. #trainyourbrain

03.01.2022 Weve been quiet on here for a while as weve taken a well-earned break and some time away to prep for the next 4 months. In a year that has taken us all by surprise, weve had to practice what we preach more than ever before, exercising resilience and adaptability and making the most of the new opportunities that have come our way. . There are lots of exciting things to come in the final 4 months of the year including big seasons with 4 of our sports over summer, more workshops both online and in-person, as well as continuing our work with individuals in our clinics. We also have some exciting new additions to our team coming soon so stay tuned! Thanks for being with us on the wild ride!
