23.01.2022 How I began this journey? I've always been quite active throughout my life, being outside or down at the beach everyday, every weekend. About two years ago I signed up to Planet Fitness with my mum as we both wanted to get fit. It was a massive interest for me at the time believing I needed that extra hand, not just home workouts. It wasn't until the start of 2016 I became serious about training. It wasn't a physical choice, it was more of a mentality state keeping me sane t...hrough my last year of school. My goals changed for 2017 which led me to getting my certificates in personal training, plus making the decision to hopefully compete in September this year. 2017 was one of the best years with a positive atmosphere, new people, new job, new goals. Goals this year are bigger then ever and I can't wait for you to see! No matter how many ups and downs, you go through in life. It will get better, be positive!!! See more

23.01.2022 MOTIVATION? Instead keep yourself CONSISTENT I’m always about being real with you guys and I feel like this may help some of you especially in the colder season. Yesterday I really didn't feel like training at all. I had no motivation, I was sore from training the day before, I didn't want to get out of bed BUT I went. Sometimes the hardest part is to get up and go. ... Lately I've been in a rut with training, injuries, niggles, not feeling myself and not finding the ‘motivation’ but sometimes you need to remind yourself to stay consistent to your goals. Over the last few weeks, I’ve set myself a goal to go to the gym at least 4 days a week. I've been hitting my target, whether that's classes or a weights session and you know what? I've been feeling a lot better mentally and physically. This post is to give you that PUSH to get up and go to the gym or go for a walk. Set yourself small goals each week for your mental health. It’s for YOU, no one else. Do the things that make you happy and your mental health will THRIVE

19.01.2022 A major component of the Hustle is technique and strength! Each session we have focused on a major exercise, perfecting the technique and getting comfortable with the movement pattern. I would rather my girls only squatting with the bar or body weight if they are not activating the correct muscles in the movement or feeling uncomfortable. Our strength exercises that we have been focusing on, are movement patterns that the girls can walk into a gym and feel confident with...in themselves to be able to do it on their own. A huge part of the program has been to get that confidence up and feel comfortable with adding weight once the technique is perfect. This is still a very new exercise for me which I’m currently perfecting before I introduce it to my girls! Even as a PT, we still need room to for growth and experience new movements. Note: this exercise isn’t part of our current program but thought it would be fun to share because everyone has to learn new exercises that seem a bit intimidating but once you get confident it’s so much fun! Especially seeing results in your strength, technique and overall body composition! Lifting weights makes us strong and empowered! 06.01.2022 One of our amazing girls Madds, revealing her fitness journey to a happier and healthier lifestyle. Couldn’t be more proud of this girl and how much she has changed. Not only physically but mentally! Two years difference between these photos. Two whole years of both emotional and physical changes. The past two years have been difficult and quite literally a roller coaster of emotions, motivation and lack of, different diet and training regimes, etc. The photo on the le...ft was probably the lightest I’ve been and the right the heaviest. My diet nor my training Schedule is not 100% perfect however. This year, particularly the last 6 weeks with my hustle program, I’ve came to learn to accept and appreciate my body. All the little things that it does more me and all the lumps, bumps and shapes in which I am designed. I cannot thank Lifting A Smile and Fresh enough for pushing me to my limits and creating such a safe and happy environment which I cannot express enough how much I enjoy training at. Progress is not easy, it takes times and it full of obstacles, but keep at it and love what you do See more

02.01.2022 THE DEADLIFT The deadlift is a compound movement which means it involves more then one muscle. The muscles involved in the movement are hamstrings, quads, glutes, core, lats, rhomboids and your traps! It is a great posterior chain exercise as it is very beneficial to your posture. Tips on technique: Feet hip width apart Shoulders back and down ... Flat back Keep your core tight Pull your hips down (not into a squat) Push the floor away while extending from the knee then your hips come through Keep the barbell close to your body as you pull the weight up My personal suggestion with this movement if you are unsure of your technique, always get a coach or ask someone who works at the gym to check your form! Especially before lifting heavy weights as you don’t want to cause an injury. This was my fourth set of 80kg for 4 reps, it was part of a superset!
