24.01.2022 Imagine arriving at this stunning lagoon after a morning of walking. Taking off your shoes and wading through the sapphire blue waters to enjoy a lunch of fresh, local produce on the other side

23.01.2022 Exciting to see some green at Mowarry Point, our fave picnic spot! Incredible work by those on the ground protecting these spots. Thanks for the images Scott!

22.01.2022 While the campground at Saltwater Creek was saved, much of the bush around it burnt. The fire reached the north side of Saltwater creek and the southern side of Woodburn Creek. As you can see the Melaleuca looks to have burnt fiercely, with little to no signs of regeneration at this stage. However due to the lack of visitors, the ground cover on the dunes is growing back into areas it hadnt been previously. @ Saltwater Creek Camping Area

22.01.2022 Big thanks to everyone for the messages of support over the last few weeks, they have put smiles on our dials and we really appreciate itAlso smiling to see Boyds Tower standing despite the surrounding devastation. Thanks Peter @harris1737 for the great photo

20.01.2022 This week were going to have a look around the stunning Bittangabee Bay! Like Saltwater Creek, the camping area was saved, with only small pockets of the surrounding area burnt that we could see. Stay tuned for some more pics during the week

19.01.2022 Its always worth getting up early. Another beautiful winters morning on the @sapphirecoastnsw

19.01.2022 World Ocean Day. At @light2lightcoastalwalks we live, work and play on the threshold between ocean and land. The vastness of the blue planet fill us with awe and wonder. Use today to think about a change you can make that will improve the health of our oceans. #worldoceansday

18.01.2022 Ever wondered why Eucalypts grow leaves all over their trunks after fire? Tess has the answer! Check out our other post for some examples of Epicormic growth. Yell out if you have any questions

18.01.2022 Gday Team After a few months of post bushfire digital detox we are back! With the recent bushfires impacting Ben Boyd NP and the Light to Light walking track, we have been focusing on other jobs and ideas while the natural environment we love and operate in recovers. Parts of Ben Boyd NP have now reopened and over the coming months we plan to take you on a digital journey, tracking the various stages of recovery the park is going through and learning/sharing a few things along the way. Let us know what you want to see and hear about! Cheers Cam & Tess

17.01.2022 A stunning winter weekend spent revisiting our fave spots around Bittangabee Bay post fire 1. View from the track near the Imlay Ruins 2. Burnt Melaleuca 3. Recovering coastal heath 4. Burnt out Gahnia in a creek between Bittangabee Bay and the Green Cape Lighthouse 5. Recovering Xanthorrhoea.

17.01.2022 A little piece of paradise for your Thursday Geology Lesson! The red rocks found along the coast from Merimbula south to Green Cape are whats known as Devonian Mudstone. A sedimentary rock formed during the Devonian period 360-420 million years ago. During this time an expansion of plant life was sucking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and increasing levels of oxygen. The sedimentary mud was high in ferrous material, the increase in oxygen oxidized the mud before it set into stone

17.01.2022 Picture yourself wandering through this stunning scene! Out scouting our new routes to be announced soon

16.01.2022 Exploring the Pambula River on a gloomy day last week. Incredible water colour and clarity

16.01.2022 SUMMER HOLIDAYS TO START AGAIN, TOURISTS GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RETURN TO SAPPHIRE COAST. Recent bushfires have interrupted thousands of summer holiday plans an...d put fear into the local economy, however, the NSW Rural Fire Service has given the all clear for holidaymakers to return With the extreme weather behind us, tourists are encouraged to start returning to the villages and towns of the Far South Coast. Weather for the next seven days is predicted to be more favourable and although there is still fire across the area, the RFS says the risk has eased. RFS Inspector Angus Barnes says, we encourage visitors to make contact with their accommodation providers to confirm they are open for business." "While enjoying your time on the Far South Coast we ask that you stay up to date using the Fires Near Me and Live Traffic applications. Daniel Murphy, Manager of Economic Development, Bega Valley Shire Council says those who have a history and love for holidays on the Sapphire Coast can make a meaningful contribution to the region in the wake of the bushfires. "Our very strong message to future visitors is to keep us in your thoughts over the coming weeks and months as you plan your holidays," he says. "We continue to offer unique and immersive experiences to our visitors. Most of what people love about this place remains and I really believe there is now an opportunity to go deeper and connect with the Sapphire Coast on a new level. "We are staying close to our local tourism operators and other small businesses in the region, ensuring they have the support they need as they manage the financial and emotional impacts of lost revenue during a traditionally buoyant time." NSW Police has asked visitors to respect the privacy of residents who have lost homes by avoiding fire-affected areas. "There are numerous coastal villages ready and waiting to welcome visitors," a police spokesperson says. 15.01.2022 Saltwater Creek, magical as always

15.01.2022 After finishing our walking at the Green Cape Lighthouse, we stop and take in this amazing view at Disaster bay A spectacular sight in any weather!

14.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT So We have been advised by NSW Parks and Wildlife service that the Light to Light walk will not be opened in its entirety until 2022! Yep 2022 One section of the walk (Bittangabee Bay to Green Cape Lighthouse) which was only lightly impacted will be opening in the next month or so. However after more detailed assessment it has become apparent that there is large sections of the walk which are unstable and will need significant work to make them safe. Obviously... this has come as quite a shock to us given that the original estimate was September 2020. As you can imagine we have some work to do. At this stage we plan to offer a different walk package on the Sapphire Coast but are yet to finalise details. We will let you know when we do. Thanks for all the kind messages of support and understanding from everyone so far HINT: This Gippsland Water Dragon was photographed in a different national park on the Sapphire Coast where we plan on taking our guests when we can. Any guesses? See more

13.01.2022 Its been an unimaginable few weeks here in South East Australia. Our hearts go out to those who have lost someone or something, and to all the animals and habitats that have been scorched. Our gratitude goes to those who are out there fighting these fires and those who are supporting from near and far. The magical Ben Boyd National Park, home to our walk, is burning. Current reports indicate that Boyds Tower, Davidsons Whaling Station and Green Cape Lightstation still stan...d. Although, As the fire still burns we are yet to see the full extent of the damage in the park. All National Parks on the South Coast remain closed. As of yesterday, the @nswrfs has given the green light for travelers to return to the south coast of NSW. We would love you to visit the area and support as many small, local businesses as you can! Eat, drink, stay & play! If you want any recommendations on what to see and do, check out @sapphirecoastnsw @visiteden @visitmerimbula @visittathra @pambulavillage @bermaguivic @spendwiththem @staywiththemau : @flying.parrot

13.01.2022 Were pretty stoked to be featured in this months @womensweeklymag With some very kind words from Robin Hill who joined us on a walk last Spring and some amazing photography thanks to @destination_nsw and @davey_rogers. Check it out and let us know what you think

10.01.2022 SALTWATER CREEK! This week we will be taking you for a look around Salty. This is the stunning spot we camp on our 3 day guided and self guided walks. As you can see in the time lapse of us driving, there is a lot of burnt bush along the road in. Some sections have been heavily burnt and are showing small signs of regeneration whilst other areas burnt lightly are showing plenty of ground cover reappearing and epicormic growth on the eucalypts (more on this in the coming days) But as we roll down the hill into the campground its as we remember it before the fires, Green, lush and shady. We also encountered a few Goannas out sunning themselves, one of them was cruising along the beach.

10.01.2022 We are continuing on the road to Green Cape! As the Light to Light walk is still closed, we can only show you the road in to the Green Cape Lighthouse. See if you can spot it in this video of the drive it

09.01.2022 The fire only just snuck out onto the heath at Green Cape. The second photo shows a fire break with the burnt heath on the left and unburnt ground on the right. We also spotted some early Common Heath (Epacris Impressa) which is Victorias floral emblem. @ Green Cape Lighthouse

08.01.2022 Our mates at North of Eden have your Sunday night cocktails sorted

06.01.2022 Back into the swing of things here on the Sapphire Coast

05.01.2022 Were starting to get really excited to get back into our Spring walks! Fingers crossed they will all go ahead While we wont be visiting Boyds tower this season due to bushfire damage, we will be showcasing some of the best walks of the Sapphire Coast

05.01.2022 Throwing back to the pre-Covid era with memories of this great day! Plenty of laughs exploring Mimosa Rocks National Park with these fellas from the @halcruises Noordam when they stopped in @visiteden

05.01.2022 The old jetty supports out the front of the Bittangabee storehouse. A great spot to watch, listen and feel.

04.01.2022 Can you spot Green Cape Lighthouse in the distance? Some good swell down at Bittangabee Bay last week

03.01.2022 We were out scouting new locations for walks on the @sapphirecoastnsw when we came across this sedimentary layer of ash in the sand. Interesting to see but a sobering reminder of the fires earlier in the year.

02.01.2022 Some epic epicormic growth happening in Ben Boyd NP at the moment

02.01.2022 These charred Banksia cones (also known as the big bad Banksia men for any May Gibbs fans out there) protected the seeds inside while the fire front burnt through and then dropped the seeds into the freshly burnt soil after the fire had passed. The cones can hold their seeds for years until the right environmental conditions are present. @ Ben Boyd National Park

02.01.2022 Some incredibly important leadership being shown in our region. We can make this change... together.

01.01.2022 Coming to you from Green Cape Lighthouse today, which was totally spared from the bushfires earlier this year. As you can see the majestic sentinel continues to keep watch over the Cape. The famous verandah, where you can relax and take it all in over a bottle of wine remains the same. Some amazing geology can be seen on the south side of the cape. And a Jackie Lizard enjoying some sun, like us, at the lookout @ Green Cape Lightstation
