25.01.2022 What does Dad mean to us here at Light and Glo? Dad is the amazing and incredible father Jeeva is, who consistently and somehow effortlessly manages to keep up with three crazy boys ( and me! ) with a smile on his face. It is his continuous effort to inspire and motivate our boys to be the best, most caring and kind versions of themselves that they can be. It is him being the most hands on dad I know, yet barely ever complaining it ( I swear he would roll around in the dir...t with them if they asked ) It is his happy go lucky attitude and big and warm heart that fills our family with so much joy each and every single day and inspires be to be the best mother and wife I can be. And growing up as a quote on quote "Dads girl" myself, its incredible to see my own Dad who at times can be quite reserved yet still has more love for his family than I can oftentimes comprehend playing with the boys and watching the ways the boys think the world of both of them and how I know that both of them would drop the world for them in a heartbeat. 25.01.2022 August has come and gone and boy was that fast. I began the month apprehensive about home schooling and being unable to do all that I love but secretly Ive enjoyed the the downtime, staying up in my PJs all day and catching up with admin and learning all things digital. I have kept myself busy, thats inevitable with 3 boys, but busy with my product creations. For anyone that knows me I can never keep still and am always itching to do something. One thing that has surely... taken shape over iso has been our Christmas collection and gift sets. This has been in the pipeline since Jan and finally I will have them in my hands...sooo EXCITING!!! Photoshoot here we come! Another pet project for Lockdown 2.0 has been the garden, we have finally finished all renos even if it meant Jeeva & I tackling a bit of grouting and crazy paving and even putting up a trampoline (now that tested us to the limit). Being able to enjoy the kiddie giggles makes it all worthwhile. August certainly has been a revelation, one to remember and one to cherish. Now bring on Spring, warmer weather and some summer lovin! 23.01.2022 WHY WE USE SOY WAX - CANDLE TIPS 101 When we started this little adventure a little over five years ago, one of our main goals was to create a product that had a gold quality standard and that meant everything down to the wax and wicks we used. Oftentimes we get asked the question - Why soy wax, why wood wick? or why people should invest that few extra dollars into soy wax candles. The answer is pretty simple. It’s just better. 19.01.2022 PART 5: WOODWICK CUTTING Thats right the next part of our candle-making journey is to cut the wood-wick to the perfect size and to ensure a clean and perfect burn for every candle that leaves our warehouse, this step comes after a precise look at the candle itself making sure it stands up to our Light and Glo standard. This is with a specialised pair of scissors, and we cut into a shape that when I first learnt how to cut wicks was referred to me by Suji as a "little h...ouse" like shape. We then remove all the cut wick parts and clean off any woodwick dust off the top of the candle, ready for a proper glass polishing! See more

17.01.2022 Happy Birthday to our little cutie! Cant believe hes 3 already, where has the time gone?! Hes a fiesty, firecracker with a heart of gold and. Listening to his little stories would brighten anyones day. From his panache for lining up all his toys in row and knowing the difference between a leopard and a cheetah (heck I had to google that one) to syaing V for vulture this kid has us in a fit of laughs each and everyday. 15.01.2022 While we would never tell you to throw away your existing candles - its so important to try and educate on the best possible options for our customers and tribe. There is a reason that we use woodwick and believe in it so heavily and why it is worth the investment as a consumer. Wooden wicks create a distinctive visual AND audible experience that is completely different ( and in our opinion far superior ) to its cotton wick counterpart. Why? Youre getting a beautiful flic...kering flame and a soft crackling sound thats reminiscent of cozy nights by a fireplace, not only that but woodwick allows for better scent throw that means you get more bang for you buck and a better all round experience! Wooden wicks also produce a distinctive flat horizontal flame, which give a contemporary quality to your candle. The shape of this flame compared to the normal run-of-the-mill flame of a cotton wick, just adds an extra difference and sense of luxury and sophistication to the candle. If it’s your first time attempting to burn your candle and it’s struggling to light, try and gently rub at the wick and attempt to relight!... Much similarly if attempting to light your candle for times afterwards, rub the soot from the wick and the flame should be back to normal before you know it.

06.01.2022 #challengeaccepted I wanted to understand the origin of this challenge before I participated and this is what I learned... The Origins Behind The Black And White Photo Challenge... This challenge started in Turkey as a result of FEMICIDE (the intentional killing of females because they are female). The black and white photos represent the murdered women which appear in the newspapers on a daily basis. Women in Turkey began posting black and white photos on social media last week to protest femicide and domestic violence and to grieve the violent death of Pinar Gltekin (2nd pic), a university student who was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend this month. She was 27. The man, a now married father, had wanted to rekindle his relationship with her but when she spurned his advances, he strangled her to death and burned her body. Women have taken to the streets in Istanbul and other cities to protest the rising violence against women in the country, which on average results in at least one woman a day murdered in Turkey. Data provided by womens activist body We Will Stop Femicides Platform shows a significant rise in the number of women killed in Turkey. A total of 474 women were killed in Turkey in 2019, a rise of 200% since 2013. It is thought at least 146 women have been killed in the first six months of 2020. 04.01.2022 Fist day at home in lockdown and using the time to wind down, I feel like a spring that is wound up so tight. The past few days have been heavy, as this pandemic gets out of control I understand the need for the restrictions but I feel for my staff, I miss the hustle and bustle of a busy production line, my office, my space but.... I intend to use lockdown 2.0 or is it 3.0, whatever it is, to bunk work, sleep in, get the kids to bunk school (Im such a responsible parent, but... I know they need it) and be present. I intend to work on projects in a timely manner and not leave it to last minute like I always do. I intend to enjoy what is a very difficult and tumultuous time, although at times I feel like Im running a marathon in the fog! We are still operational as a distributor and will send out online/wholesale orders albeit twice a week only, unfortunately no click and collect as we want to avoid all human contact - gosh that sounds harsh! Lol! In all seriousness we all need to do our part in kicking this darn virus and if that means a few sacrifices (my sanity included) so be it. This takes ninja precision and stable hands - no room for shaky hands here, the way we pour is also extremely important in order to prevent air bubbles in the candles. This is achieved through pouring slowly and to a c...ertain point, to prevent any imperfections and ensure unity of every candle we produce. It is then time to let the candles rest as they solidify into their best candle form under the cool temperature of the Light and Glo candle room until our next step is taken! See more
