25.01.2022 A huge congratulations to Jess Marshall for taking out the Cameo Performance award at last night's Musical Theatre Guild of Victoria Bruce Awards. Her performance as Ruth Two Bears in Dogfight was simply amazing!

23.01.2022 Lightbox are proud to announce their first production for 2020 - Footloose! Ren McCormack is a Chicago teenager who moves to the small town of Bomont, where he discovers that a conservative minister has convinced the town to outlaw dancing and eschew the evils of rock and roll. When Ren tries to organise a dance for the youth of the town, he finds himself in direct conflict with the Reverend and the town council. 13.01.2022 Footloose update: To the Lightbox community. It is with heavy hearts that the committee have come to the decision to cancel our May production of Footloose. Due to the current rising concerns with COVID-19, we believe it would be irresponsible to proceed with Footloose, due to the potential financial and health risks it poses to the company and the surrounding community. We'd like to thank each and every person who auditioned, and we would like to apologise to every one of yo...u for coming to this decision right after your auditions, but due to the recent developments in regards to community events, we believe that now is the best time to make this decision so as to cause as little impact as possible. The production team and committee were all very impressed by your auditions, and would love to work with each and every one of you in a better situation. We are currently looking at options to produce Footloose sometime in the future, but this will all be determined based on what happens in coming months regarding COVID-19. In the meantime, we are looking for ways to remain involved with the community, even without this production. We'll update you on our social media as soon as we come to any firm decisions. 08.01.2022 As we begin to move out of lockdown, we've started looking to the future, and we want to hear from you! We've spent the last few years building something at Lightbox that we're really proud of, and we want to ensure that we're listening and learning from what you want from Lightbox moving into the future. So we're holding an online forum next Tuesday for anyone to come and voice what they would like to see from us in the coming years! If you've got ideas of what we should be ...doing, resources we can use or ideas of how we can grow, come along! We'll be asking a bunch of questions which will impact our plans for 2021 and beyond :) Additionally, we want to hear from as many people as possible- so to guide our conversation as well as get as much input as possible, we've created a super quick survey which we'd love for you to fill out. Creative Director Peter Verhagen leads a band of 9 sensational players through some of musical theatres best arrangements. If you'd like to sing for our event, either to support some of your past band members, or just sing some boppin' showtunes, please email us at [email protected] with a short video excerpt of you singing, and a little more about what style/genre/show you would like to sing from. Please note that the band will have a large impact on what numbers are performed, and stylistic choices may be made around that as a priority. Being a strong supporter of our inception, Matts perfectionism allows him to nail every note, spending hours ensuring his passion is evident in his performance. Matt has performed in over 16 productions in the last two years, as well as finishing his University degree. He loves learning pieces of unusual and unconventional rhythmic composition, as it keeps him on his feet. We are very lucky to have Matt playing for us at Bar One, and have no doubt his love for music will help us shape this wonderful production.
