20.01.2022 Very interesting article. No, tutoring is not a necessity but most children do benefit from one-on-one or small group assistance that is offered outside of school hours and directed by someone other than a family member. If you're unsure whether your child would benefit from a tutor - ask your child's teacher. Some children go to tutoring for remediation ( to help in areas they are having difficult with), for maintenance ( to maintain and consolidate learnt skills or to increase confidence), for help with a special need or for a specific purpose such as to help study for a test or to work on an assignment. Feel free to contact me to discuss how I could help your child - individualised tutoring programs as well as general homework help available.

14.01.2022 Thankyou everyone for supporting my little business. Please note I am currently closed for the school holidays but feel free to contact me via FB message or email - [email protected] or on my new mobile number 0418526490. Tutoring will begin again as of Term 1, 2017 however I will do holiday tuition during January to prepare students for the new school year ( by special request only) if required. Thanks again and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year with your families.

09.01.2022 What should you look out for in a tutor? The Department of Education and Communities have put together a list of questions to ask. 15 questions to ask a potential tutor / tutoring centre: How long has the tutoring service been in business?... Does the service belong to a relevant industry association with an enforceable code of conduct? In Australia, this is the Australian Tutoring Association http://ata.edu.au/ Does the tutor have references from other parents who have used the service? -Has the tutor been accredited? You can check by entering the tutor's postcode on https://accreditedtutor.org/ Are the students tutored in groups, individually or in pairs? - What learning tools are used to enhance your child's learning? Some tutoring centres rely upon computer programs. Others use textbooks. Others still use a combination of learning tools. - Will your child follow a set 'path of learning' according to their grade level or will their program be individualised? What qualifications and experience does the tutor have? What training does the tutor have in the subject area being tutored? Is the tutor equipped to give correct support in Australian curriculum requirements? Have reference checks been conducted on the tutor? Does the tutor offer initial assessments? A good tutor will always offer an assessment first to evaluate the childs needs. That way a plan can be made to help them improve. Has the tutor undergone relevant child protection screenings and police checks? -Does the tutor have insurance to cover your child ? MOST IMPORTANTLY - Does the tutor seem to have a good rapport with your child and does your child seem comfortable working with the tutor?
