25.01.2022 A great read for those with questions on scary screen time movies, video games and you tube channels.

24.01.2022 The most significant emotional stress issues in the lives of school aged children concern personal worth that is determined by a sense of competence and place in family, peer group & communities.

20.01.2022 When I discovered Dr Ross Greene, the penny dropped! All the conflict that I had in my house could be dissolved and problem solved. Reading and watching him in action has helped me to understand and raise a more self-aware child. I feel the words and pain when families reach out to me and they feel lost at what to do next. Experiencing the real lived in behaviour challenges, allows me to better help your child regulate and put strategies in place to help your child problem-...solve, so they have an action plan ready to use when they know their "volcano" is ready to erupt. If you are a parent out there and needing some more info or resources then please follow the link to Dr Ross Greene's website and find some super helpful info; https://www.livesinthebalance.org/parents-families

18.01.2022 You can purchase my self-confidence workbook below. I created this with my son Sam. I have taught the skills in this workbook at Balcombe grammar to the Grade 1 children. 17.01.2022 If you’re dealing with aggression in your home and are baffled as to why, here are some common reasons why. Aggression is something that needs to be dealt with it is not good for your child or family. And as I always say early intervention is best.

17.01.2022 Because sometimes your gut screams at you that something ‘more’ is going on with your child. This very helpful quiz could help point you in the right direction. If you feel at the end of this quiz you would like a referral to a psychologist, paediatrician, OT, speech pathologist or other health professionals, just send me a message x

14.01.2022 Some great ideas to help all children chill but mostly those struggling to decesculate their emotions. Teaching your child a few of these things or even using them on your child will reduce the amount of meltdowns and eliminate more concerning coping strategies in teenagehood!

14.01.2022 Today's message! Yesterday I was fortunate to catch Michelle Mitchell - Author, Speaker, Educator webinar on 'Strengthening our Teens' a must watch full of insightful, practical tips on how to help our teens navigate their way through growing up, synaptic pruning, social media, self-harm, self-care and everything in between. Thank you ChildSafe for putting this together. The thing that stood out the most to me was that even when our kids push us to our limits, they will never "outgrow" us. They need us to be their guide to stay connected and share our calm, to walk beside them as they unravel and find their new identities. So, parent's, this message is for you today! You are ENOUGH! You are doing GREAT!

13.01.2022 Visual cues help kids to build on skills that they may not have. Typically called social stories, these flow on visual stories help kids understand what to do next. Give it a try!

12.01.2022 Motivation can be hard to muster right now and I’m sure there are some Victorian families that can relate to this cute cartoon! And if I’m being honest this was me yesterday! Permission to just rest, sleep and take care of yourself is essential and and imperative

11.01.2022 This is a great link full of lots of useful strategies for crisis home schooling. I highly recommend you read and implement some of these strategies!

10.01.2022 Connection V Control! This is a beautiful way to summarise what Teebs need from their parents as they start to create their own identity in the world.

07.01.2022 Couldn’t agree more! A little Sunday inspiration

07.01.2022 This is such a great skill to teach kids! Not only does it help them to pause, express how they feel and repair the harm/ problem they have caused and help prepare them for conflict resolution, it will help them to be much better adjusted adults. This is a great printable for the fridge!

06.01.2022 It’s all you need to do! Positive thoughts, positive action and positive relationships are all a big step in creating and living a fulfilling life

06.01.2022 One of the best things you can do as a parent is teach your child to EXPRESS themselves. This image/formula below will minimise arguments, defiance and outbursts. Instead it will cultivate awareness, compassion and understanding from both parent and child. Teaching your child slowly, over time to express their feelings this way will also lead to healthy relationships in life. Try it with your child x

06.01.2022 Girls can go unnoticed when it comes to ADHD, this is a great read, one which highlights that girls are more of the ‘inattentive’ type than the hyperactive type. Generally girls will get picked up with ADHD later in primary school because of this. It’s important to follow that gut instinct that you have! Early intervention is always best.

06.01.2022 The 'speaking' stick. I use this sensory tool in my counselling sessions, it's a smooth piece of wood with crystals on it. It allows kids to feel safe and protected as they enjoy feeling and looking and engaging their senses. I always find it helps kids open up and express themselves. Counselling and seeing someone new can very very daunting for kids and teens, and I like to make my sessions as comfortable as possible.

05.01.2022 For those parents who need a little help discerning between the two. A great little checklist to put you on the right path.

05.01.2022 What does JOY feel like to YOU? What does it look like? Jot down in a journal the answers to these two questions and focus on your inner world.

03.01.2022 The benefits of self-care & promoting mental health to your child will far outweigh the output of neglecting it. Here are some tips to help encourage you to model self-care and also to connect with your child in a way you may not have thought to before.

02.01.2022 This happened at my Secondary school. All all girls catholic college with a PE teacher who had an eye for teenage girls. He is now serving jail time at 74. This is eye opening, and as parents we need to have our eyes wide open.
